honestly, I saw nothing wrong with just cooking meal for everyone, madam.

The physics police aren't angry. They're just enforcing the laws set by society for the good of all.
<XXCoder>
sure but I dont see any physics issues at bbq
<X>
You must have had a boring physics department
<X>
Well that's fun. When I try to name my ship Satelite Mk2.... when I press the M, all of a sudden I'm transported onto the map.

No. It's a bug with the saving ships.
<XXCoder>
?

When you press M, it goes to the map
<XXCoder>
ahh yes
<XXCoder>
interesting
<X>
Even when naming your ship.
<Althego>
hehe
<XXCoder>
i read that ksp2 isnt exactly getting good reviews
<XXCoder>
51% or so good
<packbart>
better than EDO at its full release :)
<darsie>
Is that comparable to when KSP1 released?
<packbart>
on my first test flight in KSP 2, the decoupler didn't decouple and the upper stage dragged an empty tank along
<packbart>
I'll wait some more and play KSP 1 instead
<darsie>
I have a kinda minimalistic office PC, 8 pin mainboard power connector or so. There was no graphics card power cable from the power supply, but on it's mainboard there were unoccupied solder holes for one, so I soldered one there. I wonder if it can supply enough current for a better graphics card.
<darsie>
its*
<packbart>
I hope your power supply doesn't burn ;)
<darsie>
I have a 750 Ti now
<darsie>
The single thread rating of my i7-3770 is still ok.
<darsie>
Will KSP2-linux be available during early access?
<darsie>
Well, I could get early access anyways, and wait till -linux gets released.
<packbart>
it runs on Linux with Proton
<darsie>
define proton
<packbart>
but I don't expect a native release during ea
<darsie>
Proton is a compatibility layer for Microsoft Windows games to run on Linux-based operating systems.[2]
<Mat2ch>
"The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store."
<Eddi|zuHause>
Mat2ch: that doesn't really answer my question
<Mat2ch>
So you could by KSP, never play it, return it and still play it?
<packbart>
hm. if you run it without Steam, they can't count your playtime
<Mat2ch>
Eddi|zuHause: I only know of the 2 hours. Never heard about 4.
<Mat2ch>
packbart: do you really want to know? I mean reeeaaallllyyy?
<Eddi|zuHause>
dunno why i remember 4 then, but whatever...
<packbart>
Mat2ch: well, my Steam reports "Play time: 1 minute". I opened the launcher once, closed it and used the .exe instead
<packbart>
so yeah, you could probably cheat a freebie out of it
<Eddi|zuHause>
well, that's a terrible deal, because you won't get any updates. on an early access game...
<packbart>
although I didn't try moving the installation
<Eddi|zuHause>
i can't imagine moving the installation is very difficult
<Eddi|zuHause>
aanyway, i should probably invest in a new computer before buying any more games
<Eddi|zuHause>
my current PC is from 2011 or 2012
<Eddi|zuHause>
it's kind of impressive it's been holding on so well for now
<packbart>
it's not very difficult. copy from the Steam library to another directory. I'll just check that it starts up
<packbart>
that save games are now all in the same location could be more of a problem
<packbart>
(granted, it was a questionable decision to save them with the code)
<Mat2ch>
But it made it easy to have different installs with different saves
<darsie>
Will there be multiplayer?
<packbart>
it still starts when moved outside the Steam library. "[LOG 12:01:04.954] Command Line Args:C:\KSP\Kerbal Space Program 2\KSP2_x64.exe"
<packbart>
darsie: probably. the decoders say that mp is mentioned all over the code
<packbart>
path delimiters are hard. m) "Setting Plugin DLL path to: C:/KSP/Kerbal Space Program 2/KSP2_x64_Data\Plugins\x86_64"
<darsie>
I wonder how that work with time warp.
<packbart>
nobody knows, yet
<darsie>
It snows.
<Eddi|zuHause>
packbart: i'm assuming windows just accepts both delimiters nowadays?
<packbart>
probably. or maybe Unity changes it before it tries to find any files. it was a log line from some Unity component
<packbart>
"The Wwise Unity Integration is a collection of resources that allows the use of the Wwise Sound Engine in Unity games."
<Eddi|zuHause>
i love self-referential descriptions like that
<Eddi|zuHause>
"the X-Y-integration module is integrating X into Y"
<packbart>
"[Authentication]: anonymous login success" - huh. ok.

apparently there's currently a mod to have custum flags
<Mat2ch>
so now you need a mod? Not just place flags in directory?
<packbart>
well they had to go with perfomance-improving buzzwords like data-oriented-thingies and addressable assets
<packbart>
so you'd probably need to bake them into a bundle first
<Mat2ch>
This is utter nonsense...
<Mat2ch>
A system call you make once for a small set of data is not causing noticable slowdowns.
<packbart>
hm. I don't think so, tbh. KSP 1's flexibility was rather unusual ;)
<packbart>
anyway, we'll see. I reserve judgement until the release
<Mat2ch>
I start to doubt the expertise of the current developer team.
<packbart>
KSP 1 will be the most complete KSP for the foreseeable future
<SporkWitch>
there's a logical reason to not have native custom flag support: multiplayer. Streaming custom assets like that not only creates potential for liability, it can also be a security risk, and a performance issue.
<SporkWitch>
of far greater concern is just how bad the current maneuver planner is. Doesn't give you the stats of your predicted orbit as you're adjusting it, and you can ONLY use the stupid pull-tabs to adjust it; don't even get started on trying to move the burn itself. Just took me like 10 minutes of fiddling to get a minmus encounter, where using the maneuver window in the bottom left it normally takes
<SporkWitch>
less than 1
<SporkWitch>
maneuver planner UI/UX improvements are slated to be coming quickly, though
<SporkWitch>
right now, it's enough i think i'll be sticking to rovers and aircraft until it's in; just too frustrating to use the maneuver planner as is. That said, game's still a blast, and absolutely beautiful
