"if your framerate tanks in the VAB, go to the KSC, to the Tracking Station, then back to the VAB" - the early access wisdom of KSP 2 :)
<Azander>
with so much hype, and soo many 'early access bugs' I can see why people are complaining. without the hype, I think it would have been more accepted that is currently is.
<packbart>
to be fair, Jake's trying to break KSP again by building large. *and* runs it on Linux
<Izzy>
damn that sounds like an improvement
<Izzy>
(if scene changes don't hurt performance)
<packbart>
uh. what improvement?
<SporkWitch>
basically things aren't consistently being unloaded; the scene changes help force it
<packbart>
ah, that makes some sense. sometimes his framerate in the VAB dropped to ~5fps. the tour through the tracking station brings it back up to 40. it's just one of those oddities
<packbart>
ooh, integrated fuel balancing. I learn so many tricks about KSP 2 before even playing it :)

<packbart>
so, what are you going to use it for? :)
<packbart>
once the hunt is over
<darsie>
Well, I had one with low inclination, but that one was already close to Pe. Getting too picky takes more time to search.
<darsie>
I want to capture a big class I comet.
<darsie>
Maybe move it to Kerbin or so when I'm very bored :).
<packbart>
Captain Darsie and the White Comet
<packbart>
:)
<darsie>
Hey, I want it to be a magic comet :).
<darsie>
High mass, magic, distant, low inclination comet :).
<darsie>
I wonder how much ore they have. Any clue?
<packbart>
Thar she, uh, streams!
<darsie>
they're incredibly heavy, and can have only a fraction of their mass in ore (though mining their ore will have a sometimes big effect on their mass) https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Comet
<darsie>
95% is a fraction.
<darsie>
95/100
<packbart>
the phrase usually implies "small", doesn't it?
<packbart>
although I'm not sure why the Wiki says that
<packbart>
the ModuleCometResource in the part.cfg is set to a range between 80% and 95%
<darsie>
"Mining has a big effect on their mass" would indicate a high ore fraction.
<darsie>
ah, that's ok.
<darsie>
I was worried they might have only 10-30%.
<packbart>
could be that there's a hidden modifier by size? eh, you'll see
<packbart>
!mission
<LunchBot>
You adopt a cat from the Ulthar animal shelter for your ship's mascot. You think the mission makes more sense when read backwards in Spanish.
<packbart>
Retlehs l'amina rahtlu, si?
<darsie>
I'm annoyed that these fuel tanks stay attached like this when I rotate them. http://0x0.st/HiqK.png
<raptop>
wonky joint connections strike again?
<raptop>
packbart: something like that
<raptop>
(the mission is my fault, the outcome is not)
<darsie>
I want the fuel lines on the side so ports don't disappear into them.
