<LunchBot> You attempt to brew some coffee over the exhaust of a mainsail. You count the lights, twice, just to be certain. You still get the wrong answer.

<LunchBot> Due to a merchandising agreement between Mel Brooks and George Lucas; your plan of a Spaceballs Space Program is denied. Fortunately, this course of action was the most sane thing you could think of.

<Eddi|zuHause> i don't have KSP2
<Mat2ch> Did somebody do a summery of the interview?

<FLHerne> Nate says:
<FLHerne> - understands disappointment with KSP2 to date
<FLHerne> - good thing that the community are complaining, means they care, going quiet would be more worrying
<Mat2ch> well, we complain here and nobody is listening ;)
<FLHerne> - development progress slower than expected - particularly getting from 50/80% solution to 100%
<Althego> you are shouting into a chasm
<FLHerne> - reorganization since relase to improve this; feature-specific team groups, less top-down management
<FLHerne> - some dev turnover, no decrease in team size, about 50:50 time spent on bugs vs features
<FLHerne> - quite a bit of work done on stuff like colonies that hasn't appeared yet
<FLHerne> - early access release decided internally, not forced by TakeTwo, team were having fun playing it, maybe too excited about procedural wings vs... every other bug and missing feature
<FLHerne> - KSP 2 not being cancelled/de-scoped, or if it is they haven't told him
<FLHerne> - player feedback via whatever the reporting thing is useful
<FLHerne> I think that's about it
<packbart> thanks
<Mat2ch> FLHerne: Thank you!
<Althego> i can imagine the ai future. ai writes articles or creates videos, which are then consumed by other ai to extract the meaningful information
<Mat2ch> Isn't that happening already?
<packbart> about 50 people working on KSP2? a good number, I think
<FLHerne> Did he say that? I missed it
<Eddi|zuHause> there were some 50s in that summary, but none of them mean number of people
<packbart> "about 50 is accurate"
<FLHerne> thanks, I did miss it then
<FLHerne> tbh I struggle to see how the changes over the last 8 months are the work of 50 people
<FLHerne> even allowing for still-unreleased stuff etc
<FLHerne> .outcome add The engine compartment gets so hot that the crew can't access it to turn the engines off.

<LunchBot> A question weirdly phrased you ask. You're bought out by SpaceX.
<Mat2ch> Not true, Star Wars still belongs to Disney.
<Azander> anyone here use KSP2 mods yet?
<Eddi|zuHause> assuming you can't aerobrake the mun, what amount of fuel would you need to land it on kerbin?
<Eddi|zuHause> by "land" i mean reduce speed to <6m/s before impact
<raptop> A lot, are we talking about from LKO, returning from the Mun, or...?
<raptop> oh, wait, I misread
<Eddi|zuHause> well, you would return the mun from mun orbit, obviously :p
<raptop> Okay, so minimum cost approach is to assume infinite TWR and do 2 burns
<raptop> One brings it from a 12e6 m circular orbit into a 12e6 x 6e5 (give or take, mind its non-trivial radius) orbit, then to stop it at periapsis.
<raptop> But... This is "atmosphere doesn't exist", I'm assuming that you don't have to worry about the Mun overheating and exploding.
<raptop> For negligibly low TWR, you could spiral it in (I'm unsure how to calculate it), but have fun with the impact speed
<darsie> Eddi|zuHause: Apart from the fact that the Mun runs fixed on rails and can't be moved with rockets ... you'd need the same dv as any other mission. dv=v_e*ln(m0/m1) You probably want staging.
<darsie> The map says you need 310+860+3400 m/s.
<raptop> !wa sqrt(1*6e5**2*9.81*(1/12e6 - 1/12.6e6))
<raptop> oh, lunchbot doesn't do that
<raptop> Call it 424 m/s to drop a 0 radius mun into a surface-ish periapsis, and 2368 m/s to stop it
<raptop> ...but maybe I should assume a 200 km altitude (800 km radial distance) instead of 0 km (600 km)?
<raptop> Hrm, I'm also neglecting kerbin's rotation

<packbart> Azander: no. I watched people use mods on KSP 2 but haven't followed it much. there was some drama over 2 mod managers and that you'd need both, depending on mods
<packbart> I guess the forum would be better at answering questions about them
<Azander> tried that
<Azander> Trying to install 2k-D2 and I believe I did everything it asked, including teh other mods it requires yet nothing loads.
<Azander> I have yet to find anything that says how to install them beyond a repeat of what they already tell me to do.
