Rokker: ok, examples. What kind of messed up is the dH Vampire?
<Rokker>
soundnfury: top speed, that low ground facing engine

Rokker: It's first-generation, with a centrifugal engine. I think you're expecting too much of it
<Rokker>
soundnfury: so was the P-80/F-80 and it was 52 mph faster
<Rokker>
and doesnt tear up tunways
<Rokker>
runways
<soundnfury>
you're building your runways wrong :P
<soundnfury>
and the P-80 wasn't nearly as manœuvrable
<soundnfury>
which for a fighter kinda matters :P

anyone any tip on what might be causing slowdown on reentry not to work? I have deadly reentry, RO and principia, and whenever I reenter the heatshield glows, the crafts orientation gets affected by drag, but it simply does not slow down. We're talking 0 change in velocity right until the craft explodes of overheating (because it's now at 20km altitude on earth with 10k m/s speed)
<dxdy>
is there maybe some setting in the cheat menu that might accidentially have been triggered / is this an issue that anyone else has? I have never had this problem until now
<Bornholio>
there is a install problem, that i cannot remember the fix
<dxdy>
mh do you recall where you heard / read about it?
<Bornholio>
been there and fixed it, let me jog my memory tho, hopefully some one else also
<soundnfury>
augh I also recall others having this problem before but not what the fix was
<soundnfury>
nothing in the console? no exceptinos?
<Bornholio>
real heat & DRE installed?
<soundnfury>
tried asking in #principia in case it's something to do with them?
<dxdy>
console does not show any exceptions or anything else that is pertinent
<dxdy>
I tried reinstalling Deadly Reentry that did not help
<dxdy>
RealHeat is installed, yes
<dxdy>
I thought about asking in the principia channel but I can't imagine what it would have to do with principia
<egg>
I don't know, but it sure is pinging me a lot
<Bornholio>
kopernicus mangled is all i can dredge up from memory banks
<Bornholio>
question is do you have a zero thickness section on the craft
<Bornholio>
that can cause zero net drag
<Bornholio>
object floating over a coupler is the common one
<egg>
ping!
<Bornholio>
:)
<dxdy>
that's an interesting point. I do not think so, the booster may have had a procedural avionics that was very thin but nonzero
<dxdy>
how would I go about identifying such a section?
<Bornholio>
you can see through a gap
<Bornholio>
far graphs
<dxdy>
I don't see any gaps to speak of. The craft is basically a big heatshield, an apollo command module, and a bit of stuff on top of that with a docking port at the end
<dxdy>
how do I access far graphs?
BadRocketsCo has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<Bornholio>
toolbar button, don't use it often enough for advice
<dxdy>
I know about the button but that doesn't give me graphs does it? I have two menus both are either toggles or a table of numbers
<dxdy>
that sounded far more aggressive than it should, there ought to be a comma before does it^^ chat is horrible for tone, sorry
<Bornholio>
lol
<dxdy>
as far as I can tell from the numbers there, drag is nonzero, as is lift and side force
<dxdy>
mh no unfortunately can't be that
<dxdy>
I started a new sandbox save, put together a new ship nothing but avionics, rcs, tank, engine, decoupler, heatshield and it still doesn't slow down in any way
<dxdy>
the problem is I can't even identify where it goes wrong. Color and temperature seem correct, far shows drag, the debug overlay for drag shows arrows pointing in the right direction, the ablator on the heatshield gets consumed
<dxdy>
it's only that the veolocity is not changed at all
<dxdy>
I mean it's a two ton ship with 1000 kN of drag, it ought to slow down.
