<ScholarRaptor> It's kind of weird seeing a connection used on ye olden computer monitors on a space probe that most certainly does not have a ye olden computer monitor.
<ScholarRaptor> Though I suppose using the old style makes sense because it can be securely fastened, which takes me back to NASA having severe issues in the 60's with multiple probes likely being lost to loose and/or debris-filled connections.

<Mat2ch> weird
<Mat2ch> also 12 minutes burn time and for some reason the editor lost an engine somewhere?
<Mat2ch> I'm pretty sure I installed 12, but in orbit I realized I've only got 11?
<Pinkbeast> I hope it was one on the centreline
<Judge_Dedd> What craft, Mat2ch?
<Mat2ch> I relaunched it. Now I've got 12 engines.
<Judge_Dedd> Nice design.
<Judge_Dedd> But what's the point of redundancy if it never gets used? ;)
<Mat2ch> But now I've realized that I haven't got enough fuel to go to Jool and get to Val...
<Judge_Dedd> Maybe you would have had more DeltaV with fewer engines ;)
<Mat2ch> It begs the question: Why send a refueler, when you can't get it to where it should refuel? :D
<Judge_Dedd> But that's a shame. How far short are you?
<Mat2ch> well, Mechjeb tells me it's 2000 dV just for the transfer
<Judge_Dedd> I was wondering if you could get an encounter with gravity slingshots and whatnot around Tylo etc.
<Mat2ch> well, according to https://imgur.com/CHVnEeE the dV chart I should have enough fuel. But I haven't.
<Mat2ch> fully fueled my transfer stage has 3800 m/s dV. But that's just enough to get an orbit around Jool...
<Mat2ch> According to the chart it should be enough for an orbit around Val...
<Mat2ch> Maybe I should make a pitstop at Dres...
<Judge_Dedd> 980+160+2810=3950 required if you aren't doing any atmospheric braking.
<Judge_Dedd> 3950 for LJO, that is
<Judge_Dedd> 2670 needed for Low Vall Orbit, according to the map. Are you landing that on there? That'll be 3530, so theoretically possible if you are launching during the optimal launch window and nail a great hoverslam.
<Judge_Dedd> But a little aerobraking around Jool never hurt anyone
<Mat2ch> Uh, the landing stage has it's own engines :)
<Mat2ch> But I need to get it there first!
<Judge_Dedd> Landing stage has its own fuel reserves too?
<Judge_Dedd> Then you should have easily plenty to get there... Hmmm.
<Judge_Dedd> Are you sure about your launch window??
<Judge_Dedd> You should have 1000 m/s left by the time you're in Low Vall Orbit
<Mat2ch> Mechjeb makes a nice graph for the optimal launch time. So it won't get better
<Judge_Dedd> Somethings messed up
<Mat2ch> But I'll try to get the whole thing as high up as possible over Kerbin and send a refueler to max out the tanks
<Mat2ch> and then I'm going for a Tylo intercept to slow down.
<Judge_Dedd> Sounds like a good plan.
<Mat2ch> but tomorrow evening. Today it's getting too late :)
<Judge_Dedd> Man I love Jool missions. Even at maximum time warp it feels like an epic journey
<Judge_Dedd> Have fun :)
<Mat2ch> I have betterTimeWarp installed, so it doesn't take ages ;)
<Mat2ch> I never had such problems with Jool. But I never sent things as big as my station or this miner there.
<Mat2ch> *I've
<Judge_Dedd> I wonder if MJ is just miscalculating
<Judge_Dedd> Transfers don't take THAT long to Jool in stock. But they are just long enough to impress on you just how far you are going :)
<Mat2ch> It's a rather good encounter, not sure how I could do it better
<Judge_Dedd> Good night
