!tell Gregrox* if you had to "terraform" Eve and Duna, which level would you choose for the ocean? for EVE would you keep the same level as the stock ocean? or would you change it so that water covers the same percentage of surface ? what about Duna? and what about IceCaps?
<Qboid>
Sigma88: I'll redirect this as soon as they are around.
<Sigma88>
!tell Gregrox* I think I would go with "same water/landmasses ratio as kerbin" and add kerbin-like icecaps (for both Eve and Duna)
<Qboid>

<Sigma88>
!tell Gregrox* and by "Terraforming" I don't mean putting the planet through a process so that eventually it ends up habitable. Just, how would kerbin look like if it had the shape of Duna instead of the shape of Kerbin

<GregroxMun>
Eve would be kept as stock
<GregroxMun>
let me check my terraDuna
<GregroxMun>
Eve's terrain is finicky if you change the level too much.
<GregroxMun>
My Duna actually doesn't match what you want, but it's at -1000 for about 60% land coverage
<GregroxMun>
wait nevermind that
<GregroxMun>
my TerraDuna uses the restored terrain, not stock.
<Sigma88>
They already are kind of giant dandelions
<GregroxMun>
I want to get all of the worlds into the system before worrying too much about ground scatter.
<GregroxMun>
Or you can handle it if you want, if you don't like making planets of your own.
<GregroxMun>
I'm thinking about taking Sudric and Barnes from HSoV and putting it into USS, and coming up with a new homeworld system for HSoV. I never could get the "steampunk/low-tech" thing to work sensibly to allow for the much smaller than Kerbin homeworld.
<Sigma88>
I don't think I've ever tried extensively that mod

HSoV?
<Sigma88>
yup
<GregroxMun>
I never officially released it
<Sigma88>
I have an archive somewhere
<GregroxMun>
I may never release it
<Sigma88>
I think you sent it to me for SASS or something
<GregroxMun>
every time I say "you know what, I'm gonna release it TODAY" I just end up giving up because it's not good enough yet.
<Sigma88>
that didn't stop anybody else releasing their planet packs :D

If you set the spec color of a planet to be negative rgb values, you get this:
<GregroxMun>
This could be really cool somehow, I just don't know quite what to do with it yet.
<Sigma88>
what planet is that?
<GregroxMun>
It's called Gillius
<GregroxMun>
it's the binary companion to Eve in USS
<GregroxMun>
I'm not keeping the green shine
<Sigma88>
I was trying to understand what was from the planet and what was from the negative speccolor
<Sigma88>
I have no idea what I am looking at
<GregroxMun>
all of the green is from the negative speccolor
<GregroxMun>
the planet is shades of brown
<Sigma88>
ok
<Sigma88>
cool
<GregroxMun>
Sigma88: did you ever take a screenshot of the lava planet you couldn't make work?
<Sigma88>
nope
<Sigma88>
it was so crappy
<GregroxMun>
Maybe your planet could be a modification of a stock body, which you seem to be more comfortable with. The available worlds are Tylo, Vall, Moho, Ike, and Eeloo.
<Sigma88>
lava eeloo?
<Sigma88>
sounds nice
<GregroxMun>
lol
<GregroxMun>
That could be interesting.
<GregroxMun>
lava cracks instead of dirt.
