<LunchBot> You decide to determine whether ClF3 or FOOF is the better oxidizer. You create numerous causality violations and end the universe as we know it.
<XXCoder> I think I combined those together. you should never cross streams
<raptop> Look, what else are you going to use for oxidizer when the fuel is dimethyl red mercury?
<XXCoder> apparently foof can nbe bought, and it has no use?
<SporkWitch> it's simple: FOOF simply and directly explains anime. Tokyo is made of FOOF, hence why it's always the first thing to explode.
<SporkWitch> XXCoder: to be clear, it's a chinese company claiming to sell it in quantities up to 1kg; the implication is they're full of it
<XXCoder> oh lol
<SporkWitch> "But I do note that if you run the structure through SciFinder, it comes out with a most unexpected icon that indicates a commercial supplier. That would be the Hangzhou Sage Chemical Company. They offer it in 100g, 500g, and 1 kilo amounts, which is interesting, because I don't think a kilo of dioxygen difluoride has ever existed. Someone should call them on this - ask for the free shipping, and
<SporkWitch> if they object, tell them Amazon offers it on this item. Serves 'em right. Morons. "

<SporkWitch> definitely bungled my first ever visit to moho lol. got an encoutner, alright... at 10km/s lol
<Althego> hehe
<SporkWitch> now in fairness, this thing has a ridiculous amont of ΔV, i'm not sure I have enough TIME to slow down before I exit the SOI lol. started burning as soon as I entered, i'm almost at periapsis, and i've not even seen it start to curve in lol.
<Althego> really hard to get there
<SporkWitch> yeah, low grav, and stupid speeds
<SporkWitch> but it was the only thing that seemed to have an upcoming window. on hte upside, this probe ending up being dirt cheap
<SporkWitch> was only like 50k for so, including the lifter. used a gen2 hall effect thruster, so 3.35kN thrust on something that only weighs like 2 tonnes
<SporkWitch> out of curiosity, is this "dust cloud" around moho intentional, or an artifact from one of my graphics mods, like whatever is causing fog / cloud cover when i'm at certain altitudes on the mun and minmus?
<SporkWitch> i'm extra silly, i should have shifted to a retrograde orbit before the encounter, then moho itself would have helped slow me down >_<
<SporkWitch> (retrograde relative to moho, so i'd encounter it in front of its orbit)
<SporkWitch> maybe i'll try dres next, since apparently no one visits it; it must be lonely

<Mat2ch> So, Artemis I in less than two weeks. I guess NASA will beat SpaceX to orbit here
<Mat2ch> well, in theory it could be possible to launch Starship first, but, uh, they have to get a launch permit first, right?
<XXCoder> oh sorry we lost request records?

<SporkWitch> Artemis holds little interest for me. We know our government can spend boatloads to go to the moon; spacex is interesting because they're doing it better, cheaper, and as privately as can be done given AUs of government red tape
<SporkWitch> darsie: 1 second past the minute? you literally sat there waiting to hit send, didn't you? :P
<darsie> yes
<darsie> 13:37:00 here

<SporkWitch> it was obviously very important to you :P lol

<SporkWitch> ... thought scansat wasn't mapping gilly because the escape velocity is lower than the orbital velocity at the ideal ranges for the sensors. nope, he did properly adjust it to "cheat" in situations like that, like the stock resource satellite does, i was just an idiot that forgot to change the inclination after i put it there. it's been running for a year and just mapped the equator and nothing
<SporkWitch> else lol
<SporkWitch> sorry, almost two years. fix the inclination? finishes the map in less than a month lol
<packbart> well, now you've got high-resolution super-sampled scans of Gilly's equator to sell
<SporkWitch> alas, they're only interested in buying scans of the whole thing; got almost 700k for finishing them lol
<SporkWitch> it occurs to me that i could kind of cheat the WOLF system from MKS to build a space elevator. It seems to calculate the cost of transit routes based on the fuel consumed during the journey from biome to biome (and excludes reactor fuel, if using one to generate electricity), so a solar or nuclear rover costs nothing to move goods from biome to biome on the planet. Using this, I could put a
<SporkWitch> station in kerbosynchronous orbit (or maybe add that airship mod beardypenguin used for his cloud base on a gas giant, so I could have the station more realistically close in), then just cheat a with no consumable fuels up, and it should generate a no-cost transit route, simulating a space elevator...

<SporkWitch> if he has a beard he'd be more honestly named, at least lol
<SporkWitch> he's got a couple really good series on KSPI and MKS. time consuming, but if you have the hours to go through it, it has a LOT of information and clarification missing from the MKS and KSPI documentation. fair bit's outdated, but it's still very helpful
<SporkWitch> REALLY hope for no new delays on KSP2, i broke my rule and i'm getting hyped >_< lol

<JVFoxy> so... option of breaking ground or making history?
<raptop> AFAIK, consensus is that Breaking Ground gets you more/better stuff
<Althego> yes, making history adds mostly parts
<SporkWitch> making history adds the SLS/apollo and such parts, whereas Breaking Ground adds actual mechanics (like the surface features, rover scanner arms, and deployable science) and new science parts
<Althego> also the electric props if i remember correctly

<SporkWitch> what's the mod that adds the really customizable wing parts? Sick of tediously piecing together fugly wings piece by piece
<SporkWitch> especially for larger stuff
<JVFoxy> Sporkwitch that would be procedural wings mod
<SporkWitch> is that the one i see in a lot of the near/far future RSS/SO vids?
<SporkWitch> get those really sleek ships that actually look like they're meant to be that shape? lol
<JVFoxy> I'm sorta leaning on breaking ground. Parts would be nice but... and that Gemini part is tempting.
<JVFoxy> rotors would be nice though.. I recall airplanes+ had that rotating beacon but it used something from breaking ground DLC. :\
<Althego> the huge parts are really great for insane sandbox builds
<sandbox> it's been a while
<JVFoxy> Sporkwitch ya, you can build the wing out to whatever shape you want as one part. You basically just pulling vector points out and around to build it, if I recall. There might be other things since. Make sure its still compatible with the current version as I recallt here may have been changes to wing parts since the mod came out
<SporkWitch> thanks, i'll give that a go after testing this plane
<JVFoxy> and I guess its breaking ground DLC for me..

<SporkWitch> pwings DEFINITELY work better than stock ones. big-s just scaled up was ripping off without even exerting any actual force, replace with a pwing of basically the same size and shape, got to orbit no problem
<SporkWitch> that said, Deadly Reentry REALLY doesn't like spaceplanes lol; they have a tendency to fireball on the way up lol
