<MartinX3>
hi, is it normal, that the system.cfg in the system is a little bit weird? @Kopernicus:AFTER[KOPERNICUS]
<MartinX3>

!Body,*

{

<Thomas>
Thats a config that deletes all stock bodies, so the stellarator generated system can start from scratch

<MartinX3>
ah, that only one system is in the game and kerbin is destroyed
<MartinX3>
wasn't the mod "galactic neightboors" from the kopernicus team? (easy multiple planet/system packs in one game)
<Thomas>
Galactic Neighborhood is from SigmaES
<MartinX3>
Ah, SigmaEs isn't Sigma88
<Thomas>
He is
<MartinX3>
i thought he is part of the team, i saw this project on his side
<MartinX3>
*site
<Thomas>
He works on Kopernicus and GN (and other stuff)
<MartinX3>
So he isn't part of the kopernicus team but an active kopernicus developer :D
<Thomas>
I would say he is part of the team
<Thomas>
But his mod is not from the team
<Thomas>
Kopernicus is from the kopernicus team, GN is from Sigma
<MartinX3>
ah, so with galactic neightboors it is not needed anymore to destroy the system and begin from scratch?
<Thomas>
With GN, the stellarator system could simply spawn around another star
<MartinX3>
a central star/black hole with man systems. are there any plans to put GN into kopernicus?
<Thomas>
Why?
<Thomas>
The only difference would be that users are forced to install something they might not want
<MartinX3>
you think GN would be bloatware for the user instead of beeing a nice extension of kopernicus?
<Thomas>
I think that the user should decide what he wants, not the modder
<MartinX3>
thats true, but would gn not only makes a difference, when you install a second system?
<Thomas>
Do you know if the user wants to install a warpdrive mod to get to system XY, or if he wants system XY orbiting the sun like it would do without GN?
<Thomas>
You don't
<Thomas>
You can't know what the user wants. The user can know so he should be the one who decides what to install
<MartinX3>
yes, you're right
<MartinX3>
would it make sense to offer a option in stellaris to generate multiple systemns and to not kill the stock system?
<Thomas>
That would make lot's of sense
<MartinX3>
Okay, thanks, i wrote it down as todo in the code of stellaris :)
<MartinX3>
another question, the generation of every object (i mean the exporting of the scaled space maps) takes a whiel for every system. are there any plans for multithreading or are there known slow code parts which could be optimized?
<Thomas>
Every planet could generate in its own thread, but that would cause a mess with logging. (not that I would care)
<Thomas>
The export operation itself is harder to multithread because neither the KSP PQS nor my fake PQS are threadsafe
<MartinX3>
ahh, i Look where i can make the code more like functional programming :)
<MartinX3>
when the test run is finished, i will commit and push the code cleaning task and make a pull request :)

y'all want to see a t-shirt design I made for my astronomy club's eclipse expedition?
