<szyzyg> hullo!
<UmbralRaptor> Hullo!
<szyzyg> I have a plan I want to run by some pros, like yourself
* UmbralRaptor has a bad feeling that he'll probably be unable to help, but ask away?
<szyzyg> Was going to create a tiny planet which spins fast enough that gravity is cancelled at equator, and then use Kerbal Konstructs to create inverted landing pads. Add enough pads and you could in theory make a mini ringworld right? but what happens if I scale the planet to essentially zero with near zero mass - can the ring still be inside the SOI, or is the SOI calculated from body mass
<UmbralRaptor> SigmaIT, GregroxMun, Thomas: poke
<szyzyg> I know 1km planets just won't get rendered
<szyzyg> which is fine, I don't really care about the planet, want to minimize its effect.

<Thomas> szyzyg: I doubt that KSP's physics and planet systems would allow that
<xShadowx> szyzyg Thomas - this is called an asteroid, not a planet :P
<szyzyg> Thomas: Why would it not work, one of the earliest mods that added planets had one that rotated so fast things would fly off the equator
<Thomas> Well, you can try it. There is a chance that it would work :)
<Thomas> But you would need to force an SOI

<SigmaIT> szyzyg: 1km planets do get rendered
<SigmaIT> Here are some examples
<SigmaIT> I didn't understand your ringworld thing
<SigmaIT> But you can set the soi of a planet to whatever you want so that should not be a problem
<SigmaIT> If you need help with the cfg feel free to ping me ;)

<szyzyg> Yeah I just need to know how I set SOI in the config, because none of the examples show that - is there any other documentation?
<szyzyg> As for ringworld - Kerbal Konstructs lets me add runways & stuff, but nothing stops me from putting those above surface, so if body is spinning fast enough then in theory you could land on other side of runway
