<Pap> Does anyone know of a decent tutorial on how to use a height map of a real planet and modify for proper use in Kopernicus?

<Sigma88> Pap what info are you looking for?
<Sigma88> To use heightmaps you just need to use a vertexheightmap pqsmod
<Sigma88> There are many planet packs that do that so the syntax should be easy to find
<Sigma88> (I'm on mobile so links are not easy to provide)
<Sigma88> But if you need help I can try looking for some links
<Pap> Sigma88: I have a much better Titan height map than what we are currently using. I just want to know if there are any tricks to making it work best
<Sigma88> Lines from 255 to 263
<Sigma88> That's what you need to apply the heightmap
<Sigma88> "deformity" is the altitude difference in meters between black (0) and white (255)
<Pap> OK, so I need to set a 256 grayscale to it. Thank you!
<Sigma88> Well
<Sigma88> What kind of image do you have?
<Pap> It is color so i am going to have to convert.
<Sigma88> No it doesn't matter
<Pap> Wait, what do you mean it doesn't matter?
<Sigma88> I mean, if it's a color heightmap it probably has 3 channels identical
<Sigma88> Right?
<Pap> I will have to check when I get back to my desk
<Sigma88> Anyways, that doesn't really matter, ksp can use both
<Sigma88> The only difference is if you are using a 16bpp texture
<Sigma88> Instead of a 8bpp texture
<Sigma88> Other than that I think you are fine
<Sigma88> You might still want to convert to greyscale to save space on disk
<Sigma88> But as far as ram is concerned i think greyscale images are loaded as 4 channels rgba anyways
<Sigma88> But don't quote me on that
<Sigma88> ironically, I cannot access http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
