raptop changed the topic of #principia to: READ THE FAQ: http://goo.gl/gMZF9H; The current version is Galileo. We currently target 1.5.1, 1.6.1, 1.7.x, 1.8.1, and 1.9.1. <scott_manley> anyone that doubts the wisdom of retrograde bop needs to get the hell out | https://xkcd.com/323/ | <egg> calculating the influence of lamont on Pluto is a bit silly… | <egg> also 4e16 m * 2^-52 is uncomfortably large

Diego_. — so, for example, in the orbital manoeuvres contract, you have to wait two days in flight, then another two. If you time warp, the solar panels wont stay oriented due to the residual rotation (not using the mod PersistentRotation, I meant the rotation during time warp as handled by principia). So I was wondering if there was any workaround that. otherwise, I'll just use the debug menu to complete t

Diego_. — > You can set it to hold a relative angle?
<discord-_>
Diego_. — @Kirk Don't know how to do it during time warp. What am I missing there?
<discord-_>
Damien. — @Kirk @Diego_ with the persistent rotation mod you can set it to hold an angle, not with principia
<discord-_>
Damien. — principia may have a "if momentum is less than x, assume zero" feature but doesn't yet
<discord-_>
Damien. — it's come up in conversation though
<discord-_>
Damien. — for the the manned contract I'd use flat solar panels all round the sides then spin stabilise, or use a fuel cell

Anomaly. — A more pressing issue

Anomaly. — Radiation

Butcher. — @egg where is the rebase button supposed to be?
egg|anbo|egg has joined #principia
<discord-_>
Butcher. — @egg rebase is very nice.
<discord-_>
egg. — I gather you have found the button
<discord-_>
Butcher. — Yes, it was too big. 😆
<discord-_>
egg. — :D

slome. — Is it normal for a save file with principia to be more then 1GB in size?
<discord-_>
slome. — Ah, so principia is the reason for the 1-3 second waiting times every scene change as well then?
<discord-_>
egg. — most likely, the large saves are
<discord-_>
egg. — (and so Principia indirectly is)
<discord-_>
egg. — for some inane reason KSP is very slow when handling large save files
<discord-_>
slome. — I'm only having 2 active flights at the moment though?
<discord-_>
slome. — only 1960
<discord-_>
lpg. — "1-3 seconds waiting times"? that's blazing fast
<discord-_>
slome. — very fast SSD, loads of fast ram, and an overclocked 3900x
<discord-_>
slome. — still, it's fairly slow
<discord-_>
slome. — with ksp
<discord-_>
lpg. — a sub-1-minute scene change is unusual in RO
<discord-_>
egg. — the SSD and ram don’t matter for the load time, you are not disk-bound, you are KSP-stupidity-bound
<discord-_>
slome. — I see
<discord-_>
slome. — so this will probably get worse with more active flights?
<discord-_>
egg. — (you also integrate 1950 to 1960 for the solar system but that should hardly take more than a second)
<discord-_>
egg. — the question here is not so much the number of flights as their length
<discord-_>
egg. — if you have a ten-year-old satellite, you have ten years of history
<discord-_>
slome. — I see, so it's probably best to delete any older unused satellites
<discord-_>
egg. — until such a time as we deal with 2400, yes
<discord-_>
lpg. — 1GB is pretty huge, I was only up to 200MB in 1959 before I did some cleaning
<discord-_>
slome. — I mainly did a lot of X planes mission so far.
<discord-_>
Butcher. — I have about 12 active atm, but clearing out my early boring LEO sats saved a huge amount of sapce.
<discord-_>
slome. — I did airlaunch a lot, since I didn't notice any problems with it.
<discord-_>
egg. — yeah LEO sats are much more expensive than interplanetary probes as far as space is concerned right now
<discord-_>
slome. — Apart from this issue, I was wondering what the possible airlaunch problem was, since it's stated in the install instructions that principia doesn't work well with this feature.
