<LunchBot>
You attach helium balloons to your punctuation to simulate floating point. Your mission results in you finding an interesting relation between the index of refraction of an object and its odor. You name this effect Smell's Law.
<raptop>
;8ball Is the whimsy getting out of hand?
<LunchBot>
Depends which "leaked info" you choose to believe.

LOL at simulating the floating point
<Deddly>
;8ball Will KSP2 get delayed again?
<LunchBot>
Of course not.
<Mat2ch>
of course.
<Deddly>
;8ball Will people complain anyway?
<LunchBot>
Yes.
<Deddly>
;8ball Will there be game-breaking bugs?
<LunchBot>
Failure is not an option.
<Deddly>
Haha

Too true

I was assured by whoever added it that it's an actual meal
<FLHerne>
military slang for chipped beef on toast apparently
<Deddly>
I can certainly believe that it could be military slang. I'm sure there are lots of colourful military slang terms we also can't have in here, ;)
<packbart>
well, talking about it would be against them rules
<FLHerne>
darsie: what does it do
<darsie>
FLHerne: It's the Duna composting toilet :).
<FLHerne>
ah
<FLHerne>
for giants?
<darsie>
;mission compost
<LunchBot>
You start kerraforming Duna by placing a composting toilet there.

life support and habitation needs make interplanetary trips into big ships very fast lol
<SporkWitch>
(sure, I could just put the kerbals in cryo, but that feels like a cop-out heh)

derp, forgot to stick an antenna on, that one is needed to get science off the lab, and that you need a KSC connection to use maneuver editor >_< lol getting the science shouldn't be an issue, i SHOULD have enough ΔV to capture and then I can send something with an antenna up to dock, but the lack of maneuver planner is annoying. guess no mid-course corrections for a better insertion... lol
<darsie>
Where?
<SporkWitch>
just duna
<SporkWitch>
i should have enough extra to capture the main ship around kerbin, though i hadn't planned on it. did an almost apollo style, with a simple capsule with heat shield on the top, then flipped it over to dock with the main craft once in orbit (using MKS and USI Life Support, so need supplies and space or the kerbals mutiny heh)
<SporkWitch>
i have just over 3700m/s still in it, which is definitely enough for the duna capture and return to kerbin, i'm HOPING it's enough to also capture the whole thing around kerbin so i don't lose the lab's science
<Althego>
kikkerikii
<SporkWitch>
derp, nm, it's not that i didn't have signal, because i do have a pilot, it's because for some strange reason when jeb boarded after his eva, he ended up in the wrong module somehow, so the command pod wasn't manned with a pilot
<packbart>
Official on missile reports: "Something did happen"
<packbart>
err, ECHAN
<packbart>
(I just found the Cpt. Obvious remark slightly funny)
<darsie>
SporkWitch: Even if you can't capture at Kerbin, a rescue mission there is much less hassle than elsewhere.
<FLHerne>
packbart: it's the hot topic in #SpaceXFun
<packbart>
I was just zapping through US TV
<SporkWitch>
true, could send something to try to meet it as it shoots off, all it needs is a docking port, a probe core, and an antenna so i can grab the science from the lab; the experiments themselves are in the capsule, which should have no issues, i hope, heh
<darsie>
Or go on EVA with your pilot, grab the science and capture the pilot.
<darsie>
You colud use a command seat :).
<darsie>
Then do a jetpack deorbit :).
<darsie>
requires 3.1 EVA fuel.
<packbart>
"ok, Jeb, with all of your jetpack fuel, you *should* make it into a high elliptical orbit. Then you just need to float for a month or so until a rescue ship arrives."
<packbart>
hm. I never used it. I might just give it a try, for science
<packbart>
Will they follow you with their jetpacks (where possible) - - No, I would like to be able to do that. (Planned)
<packbart>
fnord :/
<darsie>

darsie: doesn't science lab science HAVE to be either transmitted or recover the lab itself?
NGC3982 has joined #KSPOfficial
<SporkWitch>
also, i'm not sure jetpack deorbits work with FAR heh. I'm not too worried about recovering the kerbals and the non-lab science, since that pod should be fine with the heat shield, as long as i get the aerocapture right, just a question of whether i can save the lab science.
<darsie>
SporkWitch: Ah, science lab ... I've only ever transmitted the results.
<darsie>
Can't grabe them, yes.
<SporkWitch>
yeah, that's what i was saying, forgot an antenna for it, and didn't feel like reverting. I mainly included it for the extra living space for the hab time, and to avoid annoying EVAs to reset experiments, so figured may as well double up and get some extra science heh
<darsie>
You colud bring an engineer with an antenna.
<darsie>
Or launch again.
<SporkWitch>
also something i'm considering: can send up a probe with a docking port and antenna
<darsie>
right, that should work.
<darsie>
A Klaw jr would also work, I think.
<SporkWitch>
definitely have more than enough life support to send another mission (think they've got like 7 years before bob and bill mutiny; much longer for jeb, since pilots have unlimited hab/homesick time as long as there's at least a certain minimum)
<SporkWitch>
also true, and probably easier, since the vessel has a regular-size docking port
<packbart>
Jakeinaboat had some trouble recently bringing back some crew that went on strike and became tourists. They won't walk from the Mun base to the lander
<packbart>
so they had to squeeze through a KAS hose ;)
<SporkWitch>
yeah, tourists can't eva, if you're going to have to, best to put them outside since if they're EVA when they flip, they're still controllable until they enter something again
<SporkWitch>
the hose wouldn't work for me, i'd have to use one of the flexible crew tubes; I use CLS
<packbart>
hm. I use Kourageous Tourists that allows one-star tourists to EVA. haven't checked if it works with homesickness life support
<SporkWitch>
also why the design above did the apollo-style flip of the capsule, since the heat shield is not a crew-passable part, and i needed them to be able to get into the main craft (though come to think of it, i'm not sure if USI Life Support actually checks CLS for calculating total hab time / living space...)
<packbart>
yeah, I used to use CLS but decided that I can observe the restrictions myself if I want to
<packbart>
like not putting fuel tanks between crew compartments and such
<SporkWitch>
i like the way it works and how it affects moving kerbals and resources
