Bornholio: im in love with the F-84 now
<Rokker>
the roll rate on this baby is just beautiful
<NathanKell>
!tell rsparkyc no, no details have been released about the game we're working on, sorry. Also, great you're back, hope things are well!

BadRocketsCo: soundnfury left a message for you in #RO [15.05.2018 22:04:41]: "nice indeed. What's next, Mars? Phobos? (Or have you done those already?)"
<BadRocketsCo>
soundnfury: ya on?
<BadRocketsCo>
.tell soundnfury I will probably try slingshoting around venus and then mars, and then back to earth
<BadRocketsCo>
Nope
<BadRocketsCo>
!tell soundnfury I will probably try an earth-venus-mars-earth flyby mission. Could probably get low above science on both, since my venus flyby was about 7500km high.
<Qboid>
BadRocketsCo: I'll redirect this as soon as they are around.
<Rokker>
NathanKell: o/
<NathanKell>
yo
<NathanKell>
Rokker, you'll appreciate this
<NathanKell>
I got to sit in an SR-71 trainer cockpit!
<Rokker>
NathanKell: i dont dislike navy planes as much as i used to
<Rokker>
NathanKell: also the 787 was a real treat
<NathanKell>
Yeah that's a heck of a shot :]
<Rokker>
NathanKell: eh, F-107 was alright
<Rokker>
we have one here
<Rokker>
NathanKell: the 107 at the museum is the one with the famous zippo story
<Rokker>
at the air force museum
<NathanKell>
:D
<Rokker>
which happened on that very flight to the museum
<BadRocketsCo>
I have a relative in the US who flew a F-4 Phantom during the vietnam war
<Rokker>
NathanKell: the RA-5 was a real treat
<Rokker>
BadRocketsCo: for the air force or the boring navy

<NathanKell>
Rokker: I loved the proposed fighter variant of the A-5
<NathanKell>
Well, interceptor
<Rokker>
NathanKell: i prefer the fighter variant it was based off of
<Rokker>
or the fighter it was based off rather
<Rokker>
the Rapier
<NathanKell>
Well, yeah, obvs.
<Rokker>
the compliment to the Valkyrie
<Rokker>
NathanKell: oh, you wanna realize something i figured out about a specific view at the NMUSAF
<NathanKell>
And it sorta lived on in NAR's VFX proposal
<NathanKell>
ah?
<Rokker>
NathanKell: lemme find the pic

<Rokker>
like some of the most insane technological achievements in human history are in that photo
<Rokker>
and i love it
<NathanKell>
:)
<NathanKell>
That's pretty awesome, indeed
<Rokker>
NathanKell: anyways within the last year ive visited 2 new aerospace museums, Pima and Kalamazoo and its really made me wanna travel and visit them all down to the tiniest little museum
<Rokker>
cause they all got cool unique stuff
<Rokker>
and with that
<Rokker>
i must go to bed, i got planes to watch fly in 8 hours from now
<NathanKell>
Rokker: Well, lemme know when you hit up the MoF!
<NathanKell>
And cheers!
<Rokker>
i will
<Rokker>
NathanKell: its Memphis Belle unveiling week at the museum so they are flying in 3 B-17s, 3 P-51s and a few trainer planes
<NathanKell>
sweet!
<NathanKell>
Not much of a Fort fan, but P-51s 4eva
<BadMobileRockets>
Oh, WW2 aircrafts are what I love!
<Rokker>
NathanKell: eh, B-17s won the war
<Rokker>
more than most other planes at least
<NathanKell>
More than Jugs?
<NathanKell>
I'd say it's shared, there
<Rokker>
NathanKell: well the jugs would have had a lot more work to do if the german industry was still running at full capacity
<NathanKell>
True, very true
<BadMobileRockets>
Rokker: What about the Halifax?
<NathanKell>
Lanc, sure, but the Halifax!?
<BadMobileRockets>
Err, confused the two actualy...
* BadMobileRockets
hides his head under the blanket
<NathanKell>
:]
<Rokker>
eh, at the end of the day american bombing was simply more effective
<Rokker>
cause daylight bombing
<BadMobileRockets>
True. But didn't the brits drop more on germany?
<Rokker>
also that sweet sweet norden bombsight
<Rokker>
you can drop as much as you want
<NathanKell>
Also the Lanc was ugly as heck, sorry.
<Rokker>
if you arent hitting anything important it doesnt matter
* NathanKell
hides from soundnfury
<NathanKell>
By the end Bomber Command was getting pretty accurate tho
<Rokker>
NathanKell: the PB4Y-2 at Pima was good to see btw, but god damn is it an ugly plane
<Rokker>
beautiful in an ugly way
<NathanKell>
hehe
<BadMobileRockets>
Swordfish was the best aircraft of WW2.
<NathanKell>
Swordfish was the best aircraft of WW1.
<Rokker>
Storch best aircraft of WW2
<NathanKell>
You could blow at it and it'd take off, for both of 'em
<Rokker>
NathanKell: also thats something that is annoying me, idk what the hell the museum has done with the storch
<Rokker>
they took it down for the Belle and they havent put it anywhere else in the museum
<Rokker>
anyways
<Rokker>

NathanKell: I was thinking, recreate Children of a dead earth, within the KSP mission Dlc
<Rokker>
TheKosmonaut: what if you recreate both KSP and CoDE but in the form of a good game
<Rokker>
CoaDE
<TheKosmonaut>
That would be better
<BadMobileRockets>
Rokker: haha, ouch
<TheKosmonaut>
Dunno how well KSP could handle 50+ Nukes either
<NathanKell>
TheKosmonaut: yo!
<BadMobileRockets>
TheKosmonaut: about as well as it handles anything that does something non-stock, heh
<TheKosmonaut>
NathanKell: ahoy
* BadMobileRockets
is salty at the game because his own laptop is poopy
<TheKosmonaut>
Well KSP didn't like physics at speeds approaching ludicrous speed

balsa wood was once considered as insulation for LH2 tanks but it couldn't be produced in sufficient quantities for the space program so we went with polyurethane foam instead
<ProjectThoth>
Starwaster: IIRC, they commented that in making the insulation, they just wanted to produce artificial balsa.
<ProjectThoth>
On another note, why did we go with external insulation for the Shuttle?

<Starwaster>
projectthoth I don't know. But an engineer with the shuttle program commented at one point that he was unaware that Saturn had used internal insulation at any point
<ProjectThoth>
Starwaster: Interesting. I seem to recall that internal insulation was a big deal for the S-IV/S-IVB.
<Starwaster>
one benefit was less boiloff loss during initial loading since the foam was less conductive and had less thermal mass
<Bornholio>
rokker assume you were able to view directly
<Bornholio>
commercial aerogel (fiber reinfoced is my choice of really good insulation aboout 4 times better than PE and now readilly available
<Bornholio>
not nearly as good as the lab stuff but i can buy it
<ProjectThoth>
Bornholio: The granulated stuff is pretty cool, honestly.
