<Greys>
somebody should make a program like google maps but with different projections and wheverever you point the camera it will reproject the globe to put that place in the minimum distortion focus of the projection
<SilverFox>
sounds like not a reason to entirely remake google maps
<SilverFox>
if addons were/are a thing, that would be the route to go
<Greys>
you say that as if I give a shit about google maps
<Majiir>
I feel like Google Maps already does this
<Majiir>
at a local scale anyway
<Greys>
at a local scale you don't even need projections
<Greys>
and google maps really does whatever the fuck it feels like on that day so it's hard to claim it does anything
<Majiir>
I mean, you do need a projection for local stuff, since the coordinates are still global
<Greys>
I'm too tired and full of oils to try and herd this tangent cat back into a bag
<Greys>
when was the last time we tried to play
<Greys>
was it even last year
<Greys>
so has your new guy worked out?
<SilverFox>
yeah, does he lift?
<Greys>
SilverFox, does the soundwave circle represent stealthitude?
<SilverFox>
it represents sound you are making
<Greys>
yes or no
<SilverFox>
so, inverse steathitude
<SilverFox>
recipricol steath
<SilverFox>
the negative of stealthy
<teabot>
Negateave.
<Greys>
invalid type
<SilverFox>
well, take it or leave it, that's the answer
<Greys>
invalid type
<SilverFox>
it represents how much sound you make at a given time
<SilverFox>
have they put out a second episode?
<Greys>
there's this old porn called Round Shell about lolis and stuff, and the artist put out another one about lolis and stuff, where the premise is that some scientist figured out how to make women immortal, but as a result their bodies would halt at or revert to the bodies of five yearolds
<Greys>
this is in response to your loli
<SilverFox>
that is almost *exactly* the same thing that happened to this loli
<SilverFox>
except the age was 6
<Greys>
and she didn't then fuck anyone
<Majiir>
New guy?
<Majiir>
We have a new guy, and he's worked out
<Greys>
cool
<SilverFox>
does he lift?
<Majiir>
We have a new girl starting next week
<SilverFox>
does she lift?
<Majiir>
He system engineers, she software engineers
<Greys>
does she have the body of a fiveyearold but actually she's hundreds of yearsold and only bartends as a hobby
<SilverFox>
she is a scientist, body of 6 year old
<SilverFox>
also a researcher
<Majiir>
I only saw her for a brief moment from 25 feet away, but she looked like she had the body of a twenty-seven year old and is actually a twenty-seven year old
<Majiir>
but who knows, we'll find out
<Greys>
have you seen her
<Greys>
btw, this isn't a question, I'm just going to assume she's asian
<SilverFox>
Has she gotten her dose of sexual harassment yet?
<SilverFox>
you say "that picture" as if I asked for a picture of a thing
<Greys>
what if I told you there's an anime about a future japan where the water levels raised so the government built an archology but the thing was so big that it started vibrating so they made a pact with a demon to stabilize the resonance and now a school girl with a laser boomerang under the tutilage of a drag queen together with a stock market billionaire loli have to save the world
<Greys>
she's also in a knockoff windwaker art style, which is really out of place in this game
<SilverFox>
windwaker was the game the artstyle has basis from
<SilverFox>
they made HD remakes of all the games so they could find out which artstyle works best in HD
<SilverFox>
and they put that one in BotW
<Greys>
then why does it look not even vaguely similar
<SilverFox>
because they made alterations
<Greys>
100% alterations
<SilverFox>
they made it prettier
<Greys>
they made it totally different
<SilverFox>
windwaker was where they were like "this is where we start"
<Greys>
sure whatever bruf
<Greys>
you can keep your absurd claim
<SilverFox>
aight
<Greys>
it doesn't look like windwaker so whatever your justification is I ain't give a shittles
<SilverFox>
I found Thor in centaur form
<SilverFox>
shit is scary
<Greys>
his name is Beta Ray Bill
<SilverFox>
BILL BILL BILL BILL
<Greys>
you should listen to the incomparable superhero draft
<Greys>
it's great
<Greys>
they start with a pool of like 50 superheros selected by a listener survey, and then each participant is assigned a hero whom they must defend as if in court against an opponent
<SilverFox>
I should watch Produce 101
<SilverFox>
Majiir what say you
<Greys>
I don't know what that is
<Majiir>
SilverFox: d20 - 4 => 18 - 4 = 14
<SilverFox>
okay
<SilverFox>
Zelda it is then
<SilverFox>
also educate Greys on Produce101
<Majiir>
nah i foods
<Greys>
then I'll just assume produce 101 is a youtube horror series masquerading as a comedy pretending to teach about vegitables
<SilverFox>
somewhat accurate
<SilverFox>
hilarious though
<Greys>
see, there's a lot of "youtube horror series masqeurading as a comedic series about _____"

Greys: Produce 101 is like SIXTEEN but if instead it were ONE HUNDRED AND ONE
<Majiir>
and with JKS instead of JYP
<SilverFox>
Produce101 is a show with some vague resemblance in concept to American Idol. there are 101 women who come from many different agencies and compete for a chance to be in a girl group
<SilverFox>
that number gets dwindled down over the episodes either via voting or whatever method they use, haven't watched much of it yet, but it's either judging or voting, one of the two
<Majiir>
So like I said
<Majiir>
It's like SIXTEEN but ONE HUNDRED AND ONE
<Majiir>
American Idol is a lot more about individual competition
<Majiir>
Produce 101 is more about competing to see how well you can do *in a group*
<Majiir>
so there are very few individual performances (if any?)
<Majiir>
I think there was like one, and it was a practice video
<SilverFox>
yeah but she might not know what sixteen is

<Majiir>

<SilverFox>

<SilverFox>

<SilverFox>
I only remember a good few names, for distinct reasons
<Majiir>
no, Somi ruined the shoot, because she's garbage
<SilverFox>
It wasn't Somi..
<SilverFox>
Somi did well iirc
<Majiir>
By dropping a fish, sure
<Majiir>
Jihyo ruined the shoot by being a whale
<SilverFox>
Yeah but she got praised for that pic
<SilverFox>
jihyo is the whale
<SilverFox>
Mina tries and hides, was she the one that hid in the shoot?
<Majiir>
I dunno man I watched this over a year ago
<SilverFox>

<SilverFox>
fucking love it when online quizzes for math are fucked
<G-Mobile>
what would it look like for a man on a horse to be hit center of mass by a hypersonic anti-tank round travelling a very shallow trajectory
<G-Mobile>
would it just put a hole in that? would the shell even detonate?
<G-Mobile>
would it initially put a hole in that, then errupt out the other side as a screaming explosion?
<G-Mobile>
how would the horse fair?
<SilverFox>
well, it'd probably get gutted
<SilverFox>
because it's an anti-tank round, which are larger than the standard bullet
<SilverFox>
a good chunk larger

<G-Mobile>
how big would it need to be
<SilverFox>
hella
<G-Mobile>
apparently it would need to be aproximately 1 hard jupiter
<SilverFox>
I dont think you could coordinate that
<SilverFox>
like, it's impressive to coordinate a single army
<SilverFox>
3 is godlike
<SilverFox>
but 70km worth of soldiers is just... obsurd
<SilverFox>
70,000km worth
<G-Mobile>
now imagine that the world is a falloutian mix of romanesque to 1920s technology
<G-Mobile>
and this army is 1970s vision of 2050 conventional weaponry
<G-Mobile>
nobody said anything about 70,000km worth of soldiers
<G-Mobile>

<G-Mobile>
right and the other answer it gave in _____

<G-Mobile>
;wa 70000 miles to km
<kmath_>
G-Mobile: convert 70000 miles to kilometers: 112654 km (kilometers)
<SilverFox>
so not what I was talking about
<G-Mobile>
what you were talking about was fundimentally flawed to begin with
<G-Mobile>
you took the radius of a planet as the length of a marching army on the surface of the planet for no understandable reason
<G-Mobile>
so actually jupiter is just over twice as far as a roman legion could march in a decade
<G-Mobile>
twice isn't a good number for this
<SilverFox>
TWICE
<G-Mobile>
antipodes cause a lot of finicky logistical quandries in route plotting
<G-Mobile>
and this army would certainly be aware of the spherical nature of the world given their technological level
<SilverFox>
we were aware of it in the 20's, so yeah
<G-Mobile>
it may be harder for people on a hard megajupiter to realize the planet is round, because the curvature is more gradual
<SilverFox>
yeah but we still figured it out in the 1600's
<G-Mobile>
is there a unit for the deflection of an arc over a given tangent offset?
<SilverFox>
ask egg or principia people
<SilverFox>
that'd be a thing they know
<G-Mobile>
like if you have a line segment of length n that at one end is tangent to the arc and coincident with an end of the arch, how far the other end is from the arch when measured perpindicular to the line segment
<SilverFox>
sounds like trig
<G-Mobile>

G-Mobile: Earth->average radius: 6371.0088 km (kilometers)
<G-Mobile>
oh that's easy
<G-Mobile>

<G-Mobile>
so all the effects of surface curvature would be one tenth as evident, which is still pretty evident

<kmath_>
Greys: convert 5.515 g/cm^3 (grams per cubic centimeter) to kilograms per cubic meter: 5515 kg/m^3 (kilograms per cubic meter)
<SilverFox>
yeah that seems stupidly high for a hole that small
<SilverFox>
but that is a rather deep hole
<SilverFox>
wouldn't be comfortable to breath in, that's for sure
<SilverFox>
but I sure as fuck don't expect it to be 5atm
<Greys>
so do you think that's the answer?
<SilverFox>
I'd go with a gut feeling of about 1.5atm ish
<Greys>
and that's survivable?
<SilverFox>
I'd think so, don't know for sure where the line is drawn
<SilverFox>
5atm is just stupid, and would work for if sea level was -14,000m, or if the hole was rather large in diameter, but because it isn't, and that 14km hole would suck air into it upon formation, and that would lower the pressure above it
<SilverFox>
so the force down that hole from air weight is less
<Greys>
what do you mean upon formation
<Greys>
this isn't an event
<SilverFox>
well it does that either way
<SilverFox>
but the pressure I'd say would be around 1.2-1.5atm, just off of feeling
<Greys>
how far under water would be 2atm?
<Greys>
people dive all the time and I suspect they go far past that
<SilverFox>
don't know

<Greys>
fine*
<SilverFox>
angavrilov, though doesn't that assume that we *aren't* taliking about some hole in the earth and instead some valley or whatnot?
<angavrilov>
how would it matter
<SilverFox>
force is an area thing
<Greys>
so SilverFox, imagine lifting 500 2 liters of coke
<waerloga>
yes, but atm is an area
<SilverFox>
so 1 tonne

<Greys>
imagine lifting 5 of them; it's possible
<Greys>
if you have big arms you might even do 10
<SilverFox>
waerloga, yes but a valley spans over a much larger and uniform area than some small ass radius hole
<Greys>
why does the width of the hole matter?
<waerloga>
SilverFox: for figuring out pressure all that matters really is how much is above you
<SilverFox>
I'll have to do experiments with this
<angavrilov>
the only way the size of the hole would matter is if there are any dynamic effects going on
<waerloga>
SilverFox: the pressure exerted being 1 meter below the water is the same in your local swimming pool as it would be in the ocean
<waerloga>
(given the same exact water, temprature, etc)
<Greys>
so, going by diver gear, 5atm of straight atmosphere would kill you; you would need a breathing aparatus to provide you with a different mixture
<waerloga>
Greys: that'd be incorrect
<Greys>
it would?
<angavrilov>
what would kill you is going from 5 atm to 1 atm quickly after breathing a regular mixture
<Greys>

<Greys>
this is beginning to contain an annoyance
<Greys>
had to change servers yesterday because esper announced it was going down; then the new server just dropped a few times, then my whole internet went out and I rebooted teh network but the modem and the router don't enjoy eachother's company so it takes some work to get them together
<Greys>
I can't wait for a future when I can just buy 500$ prosumer equipment, all from the same company, and it works
<Greys>
I'm a little surprized that cold in the new zelda with a really long title can entirely kill you
<Greys>
I expected it would be like the sickness zombie flesh gives you in minecraft
<SilverFox>
you can also die from heat too
<SilverFox>
is there an episode 2 out?
<Greys>
2?
<Greys>
try 4
<SilverFox>
you never answered me before when I asked, sooo
<Greys>
heat makes more sense to be immediately lethal
<waerloga>
Greys: there's a mod for minecraft that makes it so heat and cold can cause problems too
