<packbart>
yes, einstein@home searches for signals in the gravitational data (and also for binary-pulsars in old radio telescope data because those should also produce gravitational waves)
<packbart>
"The search did not reveal any gravitational-wave signal. Based on this we draw conclusions about the population of neutron stars in our Galactic neighborhood. For example, within 100 parsecs (~330 light-years) around Earth there are no neutron stars rotating faster than 12,000 rpm with equatorial mountains larger than half a millimeter; otherwise we would have very likely detected their continuous

gravitational waves."
<packbart>
they did find all the test-signals inserted into the data, though
<raptop>
all of the nearby white dwarfs are indeed fairly hot, though I'd want to check on cooling timescales vs how they're so small that cool ones are hard to see
<raptop>
still an interesting result for the pulsars though!
<packbart>
ah, thanks. for those not listed, I guess I'll just sample the star color in Elite Dangerous :)
<packbart>
and my neutron stars _are_ blue-white
<packbart>

packbart: admittedly no. A lot of this was from finding that kRPC 0.5.2 might work with KSP 1.12.5
<darsie>
Ah, ok, so getting a 1660 Ti may still help with KSP2.

50 EUR? Wasn't it 40 USD?
<darsie>
Hmm, that was KSP1 price.
<darsie>
How much is it in USD?
<raptop>
KSP1 is 40 USD, and KSP2 is 50 USD last I checked
<raptop>
anyway, black holes and neutron stars seem pretty boring unless you also simulate a bunch of weird stuff that KSP doesn't
<packbart>
over in my other space game, black holes are rather boring optical distortions in space. neutron stars are unrealistically pretty, swirling jets and all
<Althego>
which other
<packbart>
Elite Dangerous, where the speed of light is just a unit of measurement
<packbart>
not to be confused with the space-themed Tradewars with optional background graphics (EVE) ;)

<packbart>
buy it in the US

thx
