"It seems, for some reason, if the menu is opened while planting the flag, the flag will fall over. However, if I close the menu, the flag will remain in the ground." - so I guess, the flag collides with the window? ;) (j/k, no clue)

"while the satellites were being stacked and the payload separation system was accidentally released"
<Mat2ch>
uhm ok?
<Althego>
that is a spring
<Althego>
somebody could have hurt
<Althego>
probably didnt
<Althego>
been hurt
<Althego>
but the satellites dont like to fall on the ground
<Mat2ch>
I guess they have some kind of testing operation for that, to test the release mechanism on the ground, while attaching the sat to the rocket. I'd say it happend, when they tested that system or were about to test.
<Althego>
also maybe static fire
<Althego>
too bad the flight doesnt happen because it looks like nice weather there

<ns_music>
hi every one
<Althego>
hi
<Mod9000>
Hello, Althego
<ns_music>
i built my first vtol
<Althego>
argh i forgot the annoybot is back
<ns_music>
itson my console tho
<ns_music>
its on
<Judge_Dedd>
Wow nice job, ns_music
<Althego>
there must a be a way to make screenshot there too
<ns_music>
thx
<Judge_Dedd>
VTOLs are hard.
<ns_music>
no my xbox is weird
<ns_music>
oh yeah it was
<Althego>
espcially with fuel balancing
<ns_music>
yeah
<Althego>
but i generally dont like them, since they are hard to fly
<ns_music>
console versions are easy since u hav a joystick
<Althego>
how to catch a super heavy rocket booster
<Althego>
dont forget the head pat
<ns_music>
lol
<ns_music>
where u guys from on earth maybe
<ns_music>
im from the us

oops it glitched im the vtol guy lol
<Judge_Dedd>
<-- Sweden
<Althego>
many are from the us, some are from europe
<Judge_Dedd>
Depends what time you log in, really :)
<Mat2ch>
Althego: the weird thing is: That could actually work.
* Mat2ch
is from Europe
<Mat2ch>
and it's sad we're not allowed to talk (make fun :P) of politics in here ;)
<Mat2ch>
.oO( Nah, it's good that we're not. The laughter could kill us! ;)

<Althego>
anyway steampunk arms are probably not needed
<Mat2ch>
No, but a system that can catch and take some energy off the rocket
<packbart>
PC version can fly with analog joystick, too. I use a XBox-Controller clone with USB
<Althego>
can use it, doesnt make things better
<Althego>
i use the joystick for e:d, completely fine
<Althego>
in ksp it just kill small movements
<Althego>
so basically doesnt help me in the part that was the reason i bought it
<packbart>
yeah, I use the controller mostly for camery movement
<packbart>
camera, duh
<Judge_Dedd>
Mat2ch, I think it's difficult for most Europeans to grasp quite how explosive politics is as a topic, even when in jest
<Althego>
i dont think so
<packbart>
carrying the loser flag is a crime over here (yeah, I'll shut up now. scnr)
<Althego>
people get really riled up because of political discussions
<Judge_Dedd>
Perhaps it's more to do with the kind of people I spend time with, then.
<Mat2ch>
I think that there is a difference. We have more views to chose from, not a mostly binary system. And the latter makes the situation explosive.
<Rokker>
politics bad
<Althego>
yes i think it is enough from this
<Mat2ch>
Let's talk about catching mechanisms.
<Mat2ch>
Nets don't seem to work well.
<Althego>
at least not for fairings
<Rokker>
nets work fine
<Rokker>
boats don't work well
<Rokker>
therefore I propose rocket powered nets
<Althego>
anyway we dont know how the mechanism is going to look like
<Althego>
and with steel i am somewhat afraid of repeated stresses. like the rocket has to take its own weight, so it is basically compressed. but then when it lands it is going to hang, so stretched
<Althego>
and rockets are not usually used a second time, so it was never a proble
<Rokker>
Althego: yeah, its gonna have to deal with both compression and stretching forces
<Althego>
i guess falcon 9s are probably mostly ccarbon fiber
<Mat2ch>
Oh, a netsplit. IRC you think? No, power grid in Continental Europe
<Althego>
there was a train accident where a single wheel broke because of metal fatigue, and derailed the whole t rain. quite deadly for a train, the rocket would explode too
