<Azander> packbart: I agree, from a programming standpoint they are about the same.
<Azander> similar as CoBOL and RPG too

<Izzy> now I don't know off the top of my head how big Qt is, probably quite large; but I was under the impression Chromium was at least larger than the Linux kernel
<FLHerne> Qt is pretty large, but not that large
<FLHerne> but the relevant parts of Chromium - rendering of straightforward HTML/CSS/JS content - are used all day, every day by billions of people
<FLHerne> it may be complex, but it's very well-characterized complexity
<Izzy> it certainly gets a lot of use and abuse, which is Something
<Izzy> lots of eyes on it
<FLHerne> whereas my personal experience with Qt is that it's quite easy to stumble across significant bugs in the library
<Azander> the big issue is that just ro open a window and pring "hello world" you have to link in all of QT instad of just what you need. Most computer languages these days are that way.
<FLHerne> because a lot of it only has a handful of major users that haven't explored every corner case
<FLHerne> Qt is somewhat modular
<Azander> yes, it is. It isn't as bad a Java, Visual Basic, or C#
<FLHerne> core, widgets, scripting, declarative stuff etc are all separate libs
<Azander> but if I don't need the "input functions" I still have to include them

<Mat2ch> packbart: It is far more complex.
<Mat2ch> HTML engines these days have predictions, buffers, etc. that try to render a website even if there aren't all assets loaded
<Mat2ch> the JavaScript engine is a whole turing complete layer on top of that.
<Althego> and just in time javascript ocmpilatin
<Althego> compilation
<Althego> what is this about?
<Mat2ch> And then you use that JavaScript to modify the HTML layer, which then will go back through the whole rendering phase.
<Mat2ch> 01:51:09 packbart | Mat2ch: I think a widely used HTML/JS engine is no more complex than someone whipping up a custom UI with QT
<Althego> the spacex ui?
Tank2333 has joined #KSPOfficial
<Mat2ch> yes
<Mat2ch> (yes, ware still discussing this ;)
<Althego> but if you think of all these as libs, the actual gui code can be possibly small
<Althego> with some js framework

<LunchBot> Time loops alongside your for loops and while loops. The good news is: The permanent organ damage was nearly fatal.
<raptop> Wackiness with time almost killing someone? What is this, a Star Trek episode?
<Althego> you have suffered minor head trauma. this is considered an optimal outcome
<Eddi|zuHause> that mission always trips me up, because it's ambiguous which one is the verb
<Eddi|zuHause> my brain gravitates towards "time" being the verb
<Eddi|zuHause> that, or there being no verb at all...
<Eddi|zuHause> but really it would make the most sense with the first "loops" being the verb
<Eddi|zuHause> but i have a really hard time actually reading the sentence like that
<Eddi|zuHause> it's really hard having the same ambiguity in german...
<Eddi|zuHause> the closest i can imagine is: "Wenn hinter Robben Robben robben, robben Robben Robben hinterher", and even there it's only ambiguous when spoken, it's obvious when written down, because of the capitalisation
<Eddi|zuHause> !mission add How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

<LunchBot> After rigorous observations, you discover what Kerbals really eat. Someone implements your strategy in the world-record TAS of KSP2.

<Eddi|zuHause> well it is technically one of the 4 magic elements? :p

<FLHerne> Bob
<Eddi|zuHause> i would maybe flip bill and val.
