<KillAshley> morning scrubs
<Sigma88> heya!
<Sigma88> didn't you log in?
<Sigma88> or did thomas remove you from mod status?
<Sigma88> there
<Sigma88> :)
<KillAshley> lol
<KillAshley> i lost my username for not logging in for so long
<KillAshley> got it back now :P
<Sigma88> I'll let thomas give you back the OP status
<KillAshley> meh im easy either way, been out for quite a while
<Sigma88> gotta respect the hierarchy
<Sigma88> any interesting news down there?
<Sigma88> (I mean in australia, not the other down there, that's not my business)
<KillAshley> lol
<KillAshley> na all same shit down here
<Sigma88> still working at the casino?
<KillAshley> for one more week lol, being made redundant
<KillAshley> hows the studies
<Sigma88> got my PhD back in april of last year
<Sigma88> now I'm working on a year-by-year contract on the same lab
<Sigma88> I'll probably leave Italy when this is done
<Sigma88> hopefully for the UK
<Sigma88> my gf is obsessed with Australia/NewZaeland so I don't exclude we end up down there one day
<Sigma88> I'm scared by the big ass spiders tho
<Sigma88> :D
<KillAshley> cool, good place to visit as long as you come at the right time
<KillAshley> big ass spiders are more of a myth we feed people
<Sigma88> she wants to come work there
<Sigma88> not on vacation :D
<KillAshley> lol
<KillAshley> earn good money over here, we get lots of work from overseas
<KillAshley> thats why they set up special visa for it
<Sigma88> yeah, australia is supposedly a nice place to work in research
<Sigma88> it's more relaxed
<Sigma88> not as much pressure as the US, or other hyper-competitive countries
<KillAshley> everything is more elaxed over here lol
<Sigma88> I remember at a conference an australian guy was telling people "I do science because I am curious about stuff, not because I've got to produce results"
<Sigma88> I don't remember, did you update NH to use the new Kerbin reparenting tool from kopernicus?
<KillAshley> i did, on the main branch, but havent pushed an update
<Sigma88> it's odd that people didn't complain on the thread
<KillAshley> ikr lol
<KillAshley> my fans = best fans
<Sigma88> maybe they are still using KSP 1.1.2 since NH officially is not updated to 1.2
<KillAshley> yeah going through to update them all right now
<Sigma88> now you can move buildings with SD
<KillAshley> very cool
<Sigma88> so if you are interested in putting easter eggs in special places of NH you can
<Sigma88> just ping me if you need help with it
<Sigma88> (and for now I haven't released it, so you need to use the dll in the development thread)
<Sigma88> just replace the dll on the current latest release and you should be ok
<KillAshley> cool, ill have to take a look later. currently running through every planet in each pack to make sure things are cool
<Sigma88> do you get the flickering orbits bug?
<Sigma88> it has been a while since I've looked at a big system
<KillAshley> not in UL, havent started NH yet
<Sigma88> they must have done something
<Sigma88> it used to be pretty bad in 1.1.2
<KillAshley> ikr, used to annoy the hell outta me
TonyC_alt has joined #Kopernicus
<KillAshley> getting the old atmospheric borders graphics bug again in NH
<Sigma88> which bug?
<Sigma88> do you have a screenshot?
<KillAshley> this one http://i.imgur.com/j4FfWFh.png
<Sigma88> you mean the rings disappearing?
<Sigma88> try taking a look at OPM
<Sigma88> actually
<Sigma88> SASS
<Sigma88> wait
<Sigma88> I should have the cfg
<Sigma88> somewhere
<Sigma88> this is the cfg for saturn
<Sigma88> not sure it can help you
<TonyC_alt> Hello
<Sigma88> 0/
<KillAshley> hello TonyC_alt
<TonyC_alt> Hi KillAshley, very long time no see
<TonyC_alt> Hey Sigma88
<KillAshley> ah i got it
<KillAshley> i didnt set an AFG
<KillAshley> forgot how i fixed that last time
JPLRepo has joined #Kopernicus
<Sigma88> wait, shouldn't the jool template have the AFG already?
<Sigma88> 0/ JPLRepo
<KillAshley> yeah but it always interacted weird with rings, and needed to be replaced when using rings
<Sigma88> ah
<Sigma88> didn't know about that
<KillAshley> completely forgot about it lol

<KillAshley> ok found an issue Sigma88
<KillAshley> using the PostSpawnOrbit to reparent kerbin removes the set sphereOfInfluence value
<Sigma88> I'll fix that
<KillAshley> other than that NH seems to be fine
<Kopernicus> [Kopernicus] Sigma88 opened pull request #170: don't override custom parameters (development...patch-8) https://git.io/v9rxV
<Sigma88> fixed
<KillAshley> \o/
<Sigma88> did you see my science defs mod?
<KillAshley> no? link me

<KillAshley> very cool
<Sigma88> I made it for SASS
<Sigma88> so now I can have science reports :D
<KillAshley> awesome
<Sigma88> without having to worry about writing them
<Sigma88> :D
<KillAshley> yeah writing them sucks
<KillAshley> i used the community sci defs for UL
<KillAshley> so i didnt have to write them
<Sigma88> I was about to say
<Sigma88> you might find it useful for UL
<Sigma88> you can have biomes with different names
<KillAshley> ig only you made it before i did UL lol
<Sigma88> what kind of biomes does UL have right now?
<Sigma88> same as stock?
<KillAshley> na all different
<Sigma88> and did you add the scidefs ? or just use the non-biome ones?
<KillAshley> yeah manually edited and added the community logs to each biome
<Sigma88> god
<KillAshley> ikr
<Sigma88> I had to do the same for SASS
<Sigma88> and I had to do it twice, since SASS planets can have 2 different names
<KillAshley> lol ouch
<Sigma88> so I just said, no thanks, I'm going to write a plugin for it :D
<Sigma88> plus I get to do cool stuff like this
<Sigma88> :D
JPLRepo has quit [Quit: So Long and thanks for all the Fish!]
<Sigma88> KillAshley: could you try the kopernicus clock with NH ?
<Sigma88> I'm curious to see how it performs on a reparented kerbin
<KillAshley> sure thing, just trying to figure out why afg is nuking the horizon gradient atm....willl try later
<Sigma88> do you have a pic?
<Sigma88> for the clock just add useKopernicusTime = true
<Sigma88> directly into the Body
<Sigma88> no sorry, directly into Kopernicus
<KillAshley> will do
<Sigma88> If you have a screenshot and the cfg I might be able to see what's wrong with your AFG
<KillAshley> its something with the transformScale option, just testing a few things first
<Sigma88> transform scale should be 2x the difference between PlanetRadius and AFG OuterRadius
<Sigma88> Example: Kerbin is 600000 meters
<Sigma88> outer radius for kerbin is 615000
GregroxMun has joined #Kopernicus
<GregroxMun> o/
<Sigma88> !wa 615000/600000
<Qboid> Sigma88: 615000/600000 = 41/40
<Sigma88> !wa ~615000/600000
<Qboid> Sigma88: ¬615000/600000 = ¬41/40
<Sigma88> -.-
<GregroxMun> !wa 41/40 as a decimal
<Qboid> GregroxMun: 41/40 | decimal approximation: 1.025
<Sigma88> there you go
<Sigma88> which means you needto multiply that 0.025 by 2
<Sigma88> so you should use the transformscale at 1.05 for stock kerbin
<GregroxMun> That's the ratio between Kerbin and Earth if both are kerbal-sized?
<KillAshley> but its represented as a 3 value string, Kerbin has 0,0,0
<Sigma88> no it's an error in the export
<GregroxMun> Why is KillAshley a robot and also alive all of a sudden?
<Sigma88> kerbin actually has 1.025,1.025,1.025
<KillAshley> GregroxMun: beep boop
<Sigma88> but it looks crap
<KillAshley> damn, thats be it
<GregroxMun> What're you working on?
<Sigma88> if you use 0,0,0 it hides the AFG
<Sigma88> :D
<KillAshley> my plan for world domination
<KillAshley> thatd be why, if its an export bug
<KillAshley> btw your saturn has 0,0,0 in its cfg too
<KillAshley> must be why it threw me
<Sigma88> my saturn has 0,0,0 because it is oblate
<Sigma88> and I hide the AFG for oblate gas giants
<Sigma88> because it looks crap
<KillAshley> there we go
<Sigma88> :P
<KillAshley> dammit that bring back the ring bug
<KillAshley> hmmmm
<Sigma88> it might be that there's no solution
<Sigma88> it could be possible that the atmosphere is rendered on top of the rings
<KillAshley> i remember fixing it a long time ago, just cant remember how
<Sigma88> have you tried changing the texture for the rings?
<Sigma88> trying with and without using the PluginData folder
<Sigma88> dds and png
<KillAshley> yeah thats what im toying with now
<Sigma88> try the 4 combinations, if none work then you're screwed
<Sigma88> :D
<Sigma88> you might want to check other mods to see if the issue is present in all of them
<Sigma88> wait, have you tried regenerating the cache file?
<Sigma88> do you still have the screenshot for GregroxMun?
<Sigma88> maybe he knows
<KillAshley> ah i remember
<KillAshley> one sec
<Sigma88> if you find the solution let me know, it might come in handy in future
<KillAshley> its like you said, the atmosphere renders over the rings, so in map view to avoid the ring obstruction it gets set lower than it should. its a hack, but it doesnt cause any major visual issues in flight
<Sigma88> so what do you do to fix it?
<KillAshley> eg, instead of 1.025,1.025,1.025 ssetting it as 1.01,1.01,1.01 causes no issues and removes the obstruction
<KillAshley> has to be higher than 1 though
<Sigma88> yeah
<Sigma88> I'll need to keep that in mind for SD
<Sigma88> currently I overwrite that parameter
<KillAshley> im sure theres some wiggle room, so it can be toyed with, but ive got no issues now \p/
<Sigma88> np, I'll just make it so that it doesn't overwrite that parameter if it is defined in the cfg
<GregroxMun> If useNewShader = true, I can't see rings.
<GregroxMun> The OPM alpha release has invisible rings as a result
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: do you have an horizontal texture?
<KillAshley> i forgot about that new shader
<GregroxMun> the textures in OPM are verticle
<GregroxMun> vertical
<Sigma88> http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/140580-122-kopernicus-release-3-february-2/&do=findComment&comment=3042100
<GregroxMun> so just rotate them horizontal
<Sigma88> in theory
<KillAshley> dammit i dont have PS anymore :( so i cant try it out
<Sigma88> KillAshley: you want me to save you some textures?
<KillAshley> well how big is the difference between the new and old shaders
<GregroxMun> screenshots soon, KA
<Sigma88> new rings look like they are made of particles up close
<KillAshley> cool let me see
<Sigma88> plus they get the shadow of the planet
<Sigma88> and with scatterer they cast shadows onto the planet
<GregroxMun> wait they look tlike particules iup clide
<Sigma88> in english greg
<GregroxMun> look like particles up close
<KillAshley> lol
<GregroxMun> I'm tired this morning.
<Sigma88> :P
<KillAshley> suuuuuure
<Sigma88> too much self entertainment?
<GregroxMun> I don't know what that means.
<KillAshley> lol
<Sigma88> it means that you entertained yourself too much and as a result you are very tired
<Sigma88> :P
<KillAshley> Sigma88: its too much for his innocent mind to handle
<Sigma88> yeah sure
<GregroxMun> OOOH
<GregroxMun> I get it
<Sigma88> the other day he was talking about his 6 inch telescope
<GregroxMun> you mean I watched too much TV last night?
<GregroxMun> I didn't by the way
<GregroxMun> But very funny
<Sigma88> :P
<GregroxMun> The problem with Sarnus' rings is that it's always oriented to the equator.
<GregroxMun> We need non-principia axial tilt
<Sigma88> why is that a problem?
<GregroxMun> Because it doesn't look good
<GregroxMun> It looks like this:
<GregroxMun> hold on
<GregroxMun> (or sarnushine for that matter)
<GregroxMun> The rings are dark, they don't cast a shadow on the planet, and the shadow cast by the planet is always the same.
<GregroxMun> It's not OPM's fault, it's the lack of axial tilt's fault.
<GregroxMun> Sigma88: Are you using Thatmo for anything in SASS?
<GregroxMun> or SASSx
<GregroxMun> I think it could make a good Eris analogue.
<GregroxMun> Or maybe Dione.
<Sigma88> I was thinking enceladus
<GregroxMun> oh yeah, could be
<Sigma88> it's basically the same :D
<Sigma88> I think thatmo is based off of enceladus
<Sigma88> like wal is based off of iapetus
<GregroxMun> Pretty much every moon in OPM is based off a Saturnian moon. :P
<Sigma88> saturn has all the cool moons, gotta spread them around
<GregroxMun> Maybe just because we know so little about other moons.
<GregroxMun> The only true Miranda analogue I've seen is in NovaSilisko's unreased Raven mod.
<Sigma88> well, neptune doesn't have any worth mentioning
<GregroxMun> Well it has Triton
<GregroxMun> which has some cool black geysers or something.
<GregroxMun> Sort of similar terrain to Pluto
<Sigma88> yes but admittedly triton is more a dwarf planet than a moon
<Sigma88> seems silly to put it into a different category just because it got captured
<Sigma88> but yes, triton is cool
<GregroxMun> http://i.imgur.com/a8105fZ.jpg here's Nomovi from Raven btw
<Sigma88> cool
<GregroxMun> Honestly I think Thatmo is a very boring satellite in terms of terrain.
<GregroxMun> It's mostly flat with a bit of mushy hills here and there
<GregroxMun> mushy canyons anyway
<GregroxMun> From a distance it looks like enceladus sure (especially if you remove the shininess)
<KillAshley> ok i need to test, GregroxMun got a horizontal ring texture i can borrow?
<GregroxMun> give me a moment
<KillAshley> ty
<GregroxMun> To find the albedo of a body in KSP: take its exported map, take the average of the brightness of every pixel, divide by 255, and multiply that by the average of ScaledVersion/Material/color rgb.
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: how does the new shader work with opm?
<GregroxMun> It looks alright
<GregroxMun> I have pics, but imgur broke
<GregroxMun> I had to rotate the rings of course
<Sigma88> do you have pictures of the particle effect?
<Sigma88> I'd like to see one
<Sigma88> I've never seen it
<GregroxMun> It's not there
<GregroxMun> it might be in scatterer
<GregroxMun> but its not in the shader as it is in Kopernicus now
<Sigma88> so up close they look the same
<Sigma88> ?
<GregroxMun> Yeah pretty much
<GregroxMun> they even clip through the camera plane
<Sigma88> did you go with a crap?
<Sigma88> craft*
<Sigma88> :D
<Sigma88> lol
<KillAshley> yeah no particles - can confirm
<Sigma88> or did you just look at it from tracking station?
<Sigma88> :(
<KillAshley> i like the shadows though
<Sigma88> so the crappy shadow is the only upgrade?
<Sigma88> :D
<GregroxMun> I looked at it with the spacecraft
<KillAshley> it looks generally nicer
<GregroxMun> Shadows would be better if Sarnus and its rings were inclined
<GregroxMun> There's a backlighting effect
<GregroxMun> Duna's average albedo is 0.56. Probably entirely due to the massive ice caps.
<GregroxMun> But for some reason the KittopiaExport says its albedo is 0.17.
<Sigma88> there's an issue with your calculation GregroxMun
<GregroxMun> wat
<Sigma88> two words: rectangular projection
<GregroxMun> Oh damn
<Sigma88> Gregsux
<GregroxMun> but wait doesn't the equirectangular projection preserve area?
<KillAshley> ok quick question.....how long has it been that you cant see rings through atmospheres anymore. I distictly remember seeing them a while ago
<Sigma88> the projection ksp uses doesn't
<Sigma88> are you sure KillAshley?
<KillAshley> yup
<Sigma88> with both old and new shader?
<KillAshley> yup
<Sigma88> could you try on a stock install?
<Sigma88> add just some rings to kerbin and open an issue on github with the logs
<KillAshley> it used to be that you could see Sonnah's rings from Kerbin, but no longer. tried everything
<Sigma88> that might help thomas
<KillAshley> kk
<Sigma88> wait
<GregroxMun> Still it shouldn't be 0.17 and also why does it need to have an albedo in KSP? It's part of the Kittopia export and there's no way that's accurate, even if my answer is wrong.
<Sigma88> what about kerbin's rings in ul
<Sigma88> can you see those?
<GregroxMun> yeah you can
<GregroxMun> you can see sarnus rings from Tekto too
<Sigma88> KillAshley: there might be a problem with how NH is setup
<GregroxMun> I think if you're IN an atmo, you can see rings, but if you're outside of atmo, the atmo blocks the rings. That's what I remember from the old shader anyway
<KillAshley> no, theres no rings in UL kerbin either
<Sigma88> KillAshley: could you check with OPM if you can see the rings of sarnus from tekto?
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: are you 100% sure you can see sarnus rings from tekto on your pc?
<GregroxMun> no
<GregroxMun> im checking now
<Sigma88> ok
<Sigma88> thanks
<Sigma88> could you send me your logs afterwards? KillAshley and GregroxMun both
<GregroxMun> I wonder if EVA landing on Tekto is possible...
<Sigma88> on pluron it is
<Sigma88> :D
<KillAshley> image re-entering atmosphere http://i.imgur.com/GdIoxTQ.png
<KillAshley> made a sharp transition to let it show
<GregroxMun> descent to Tekto is so damn slow
<Sigma88> just hyperedit
<Sigma88> :D
<GregroxMun> also the highlands of Tekto might be outside of its AFG
<Sigma88> splash on the sea
<GregroxMun> Easier said than done.
<Sigma88> don't you have HE?
<GregroxMun> no
<Sigma88> lol
<GregroxMun> im using stock cheat orbit editor
<Sigma88> just land anywhere, quicksave and edit the coordinates in the quicksave file
<Sigma88> :D
<Sigma88> that's how I do it when I forget he
<GregroxMun> I remember when Tekto's oceans were blue because it was just a retextured Laythe.
<GregroxMun> Tekto really ought to have a higher AFG given the atmosphere height.
<Sigma88> any news?
<Sigma88> :)
<GregroxMun> almost down to the AFG and surface
<Sigma88> KillAshley: is that screenshot from NH?
<GregroxMun> actually I am in it
<GregroxMun> because the stars are gone
<GregroxMun> and still rings
<Sigma88> hmmm
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: could you try UL as well?
<GregroxMun> wait no
<KillAshley> ul, but same in NH
<GregroxMun> no the rings go
<Sigma88> ok
<Sigma88> so it's confirmed
<Sigma88> I'll warn thomas
<Sigma88> KillAshley: do you wanto to open the issue yourself'
<Sigma88> ?
<KillAshley> na you do it, am eating rn
<GregroxMun> warning: if you land on Tekto in your EVA pack, you will not be able to take off again.
<GregroxMun> well, if you splash on Tekto
<Sigma88> if you could provide me with logs it would help thomas
<GregroxMun> body logs or ksp.log
<Kopernicus> [Kopernicus] Sigma88 opened issue #171: atmosphere renders in front of the rings https://git.io/v9om2
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: output_log.txt
<Sigma88> and the whole Logs golder
<Sigma88> folder
<Sigma88> opm?
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: don't remove that zip from dropbox for a couple of days
<GregroxMun> ok
<Sigma88> so thomas has time to dl them
<Sigma88> they are from opm right?
JPLRepo has joined #Kopernicus
<Sigma88> JPLRepo: you know if it is possible to change the names of the 4 special astronauts?
<GregroxMun> KerbalRenamer does it
<GregroxMun> You could even change the surname
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: I don't think that will maintain the "special" status of the kerbal if it gets renamed
<Sigma88> as far as I know "Jebediah Kerman" is hardcoded into KSP as a special kerbal, and gets a different suit
<Sigma88> is that still the case?
<GregroxMun> No, not anymorew
<Sigma88> really?
<GregroxMun> 1.2.2 lets any kerbal have an orange suit
<GregroxMun> look in a save file for the Kerbals
<Sigma88> oh
<GregroxMun> 1.2, actually
<GregroxMun> not 1.2.2 in particular
<GregroxMun> veteran = true/false
<Sigma88> but still I don't see anything that would force the first 4 names to be something specific
<GregroxMun> if true, then you get orange shirt
<Sigma88> in the kerbal renamer mod
<GregroxMun> huh, you're right
<Sigma88> so the first 4 names would be randomized
<GregroxMun> I was misremembering
<Sigma88> no it's still perfect
<Sigma88> now I know what I am looking for
<GregroxMun> Oh yeah I just said "I wish I could make new 'originals'." in the renamer config for HSoC.
<GregroxMun> I didn't actually make new originals
<Sigma88> I plan to change the names for Kerbals in SASS to have more human names
<Sigma88> for Jeb I was thinking: either "Nick Strongarm" or "Alen Strongarm"
<Sigma88> the second one would be a perfec anagram
<Sigma88> but the first sounds better
<Sigma88> oh wait
<Sigma88> it's neil, not neal isn't it?
<Sigma88> damn
<Sigma88> so nick should be fine
<GregroxMun> Nick Strongarm, Gus Somgris, Harry Smicht, and Salentina Rideskova?
<GregroxMun> Harrison Schmitt was the first actual scientist to fly in space, a trained geologist.
<GregroxMun> Flew on Apollo 17.
<GregroxMun> But schmitt can't be reversed like the other two
<GregroxMun> Gus Grissom of course being an astronaut and engineer who helped to redesign the Gemini capsule from Mercury Mk II.
<GregroxMun> but then again I think he's already got a Kerbal analogue as Gus Kerman in the admin building.
<Sigma88> I was thinking:
<Sigma88> Nick Strongarm (Pilot, male) (from Neil Armstrong)
<GregroxMun> yes
<Sigma88> Isaac Bowman (Scientist) (from Isaac Asimov + David Bowman)
<GregroxMun> oh lol
<Sigma88> Elon Cochrane (Engineer) (from Elon Musk + Zefram Cochrane)
<GregroxMun> Cochrane is actually meant to be an alien sounding name though I think.
<Sigma88> Vala Carter (Pilot, female) ( from Vala Mal Doran + Sam Carter)
<GregroxMun> No clue who those people are
<Sigma88> Cochrane was terran
<GregroxMun> In TOS he was alpha centaurian
<Sigma88> wut?
<GregroxMun> Yep.
<GregroxMun> They remade him to be from Earth in First Contact
<GregroxMun> and they made him older than he was in the TOS episode
<GregroxMun> But Cochrane is a real surname so it's ifne.
<Sigma88> ah
<Sigma88> I didn't know about that
<Sigma88> I only know of him from ENT I think
<GregroxMun> I do recommend watching First Contact if you have the chance. Probably the best Trek TNG movie.
<Sigma88> plus, cochrane is a real surname :)
<Sigma88> I'll do
<GregroxMun> s/but/but
<Qboid> GregroxMun meant to say: but Cochrane is a real surname so it's ifne.
<Sigma88> It's a while that I would like to see all ST movies
<Sigma88> ah I missed that :D
<Sigma88> Vala Mal Doran and Sam Carter are from StarGate
<GregroxMun> :/
<GregroxMun> I haven't watched StarGate
<Sigma88> I would recommend it
<GregroxMun> also isn't that rather implying a "relationship name" :P
<Sigma88> it's my faourite of the star series
<Sigma88> relationship?
<Sigma88> what do you mean?
<GregroxMun> Fanfiction authors will combine two character's names into one to make a "ship name" implying romantic or sexual companionship between the two characters.
<Sigma88> you mean, like Isaac Clarke ? :D
<GregroxMun> Ah whatever.
<Sigma88> in deadspace (I think it was)
<Sigma88> :D
<Sigma88> just joking :P
<Sigma88> the reasoning was: Jeb is the pilot, and the one who steals all the attentions, so neil armstrong (probably the best fit here)
<Sigma88> the scientist comes from a mashup of my two favourite sci-fi authors
<Sigma88> so asimov and clarke
<Sigma88> had to change clarke to "bowman" because of stupid deadspace stole my idea
<GregroxMun> random fact: when I did a school survey with the question: "who was the first person to walk on the moon," about 6 or so people said "Buzz Lightyear."
<Sigma88> stupid kids
<Sigma88> toys are not people
<GregroxMun> david bowman is a character, not an author
<Sigma88> yes I know
<Sigma88> but I don't want to use isaac clarke
<GregroxMun> oh right didnt read it
<UmbralRaptor> Sigma88: but people are toys!
<GregroxMun> :o
<Sigma88> UmbralRaptor: yes
<Sigma88> sometimes also boys are
<Sigma88> I wish I was :(
<GregroxMun> lol
<UmbralRaptor> Boys are usually a subset of people, yes.
<GregroxMun> Silly raptor, clearly you've never been to Tumblr.
<GregroxMun> ./s
<UmbralRaptor> GregroxMun: well, Sigma88's last line could be interpreted as their wishing that they were a boy, so…
<Sigma88> my wish to be both a boy and a toy
<GregroxMun> You're freakin' weird, man.
<GregroxMun> ^ should be added to Funny Quotes
<Sigma88> yeah well, what'you gonna do?
<GregroxMun> !wpn
* Qboid gives GregroxMun an uranium conifer
<Sigma88> to continue the reasoning, the engineer is Elon and Zefram because both of them contributed to make interesting progress in engineering
* GregroxMun slaps Sigma88 with a uranium conifer
<GregroxMun> makes sense
<Sigma88> and Val is a badSS pilot
<Sigma88> which is why Carter and MalDoran are perfect
<UmbralRaptor> Elon Zubrin as an engineer!
<GregroxMun> There's no real reason not to make more than just four default kerbals
<Sigma88> UmbralRaptor: yes I considered him
<Sigma88> I considered also Kim Stanley Robinson
<Sigma88> but dropped them both in favor of zefram
<Sigma88> Mainly because I like "Cochrane" better than the alternatives
<GregroxMun> A few years ago I had a classmate who's name was Zefram.
<Sigma88> yes
<GregroxMun> His parents are huge nerds.
<Sigma88> it's a jewish name
<GregroxMun> But he isn't Jewish.
<GregroxMun> His parents are just huge nerds.
<Sigma88> fans of everwood? :D
<GregroxMun> His middle name is literally Cochrane.
<Sigma88> LOL
<Sigma88> Zefram 'Cock Rain' Smith
<GregroxMun> I mean I guess since Star Trek: First Contact takes place in the 2060s, I'm about the same age as Zefram Cochrane.
<Sigma88> poor kid
<Sigma88> was him that old?
<UmbralRaptor> Worrying name: Paulo Watts
<Sigma88> paulo?
<Sigma88> afteR?
<UmbralRaptor> bah, mispelled it
<UmbralRaptor> Paolo Bacigalupi + Peter Watts
<Sigma88> another name I considered for the engineer was Elon Fermi
<GregroxMun> Do you know if it's possible to name the Mission Control, R&D, and Administration Building's Kerbals?
<Sigma88> UmbralRaptor: he is italian apparently
<Sigma88> in origins atleast
<GregroxMun> Gene Kerman, Werner von Kerman, Mortimer Kerman, Linus Kerman, Gus Kerman, and Walt Kerman.
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: install SB set the date to 5/4 and go take a look
<GregroxMun> All those Kermans in the KSC staff is enough to make me suspect fraudulent solar systems.
<GregroxMun> I'm guessing so
<GregroxMun> I'm too lazy to do that though.
<Sigma88> believe me
<Sigma88> it's worth the effort
<GregroxMun> which building.
<Sigma88> R&D
<Sigma88> the one with science reports
Sigma88 is now known as SigmaSemi
<SigmaSemi> still here
<GregroxMun> I really need to not forget to change it back.
<SigmaSemi> but I might not see the screen if you write me for a while
<GregroxMun> I have the names of all the textures of the Kerbals in the KSC staff if you need it.
<GregroxMun> also all of the textures
<GregroxMun> Gene Kerman should just be renamed Gene Kranz. He's already got the white vest after all.
<GregroxMun> wait do you mean April 5th or May 4th
<GregroxMun> because on May 4th it's normal
<GregroxMun> ^ SigmaSemi
<GregroxMun> oh wait silly me, I uninstalled SB because egg told me to yesterday
<GregroxMun> R2-D2 Kerman. XD
<SigmaSemi> GregroxMun: go back
<SigmaSemi> it's not just one
<SigmaSemi> it's random
<SigmaSemi> just go out the R&D and back in
<GregroxMun> Did no one post about it on the 4th
<GregroxMun> s/4th/"today-for-me"
<Qboid> GregroxMun meant to say: Did no one post about it on the "today-for-me"
<SigmaSemi> nobody noticed as far as I know
<SigmaSemi> and not even april 1st
<SigmaSemi> -.-
<GregroxMun> what was the april 1st one?
<SigmaSemi> swaps primary and secondary
<SigmaSemi> xD
<KillAshley> question........
<SigmaSemi> just the scaledspacetexture
<SigmaSemi> yes KillAshley
<KillAshley> do i need useNewShader = true in EVERY Ring{} or just one
<GregroxMun> every one afaict
<KillAshley> kkk
<GregroxMun> :o
<KillAshley> stupid fingers
JPLRepo has quit [Quit: So Long and thanks for all the Fish!]

<SigmaSemi> :)
<GregroxMun> Thud from Planet Factory CE might make a decent Saturn moon if lightened up. Could be Tethys or Mimas with that big giant crater.
<GregroxMun> You already require it for inaccessible, right?
<SigmaSemi> is PFCE compatible ?
<SigmaSemi> sentar expansion
<GregroxMun> Sentar Expansion should still have Thud
<SigmaSemi> does sentar expansion have thud?
<GregroxMun> Thud orbits Sentar.

<GregroxMun> Pock could be used for some miscleaneous icy moon perhaps
<SigmaSemi> I'm still looking for "reasons" why the planets should be added
<SigmaSemi> nothing major
<SigmaSemi> but I'd like to avoid adding random small icy moons
<SigmaSemi> unless they have some cool feature
<GregroxMun> Maybe not Pock then
<SigmaSemi> well, I could consider one boring moon
<SigmaSemi> for neptune
<SigmaSemi> on account of the fact that neptune has very boring moons
<SigmaSemi> :D
<SigmaSemi> so the feature of the moon would be its boringness
<SigmaSemi> :D
<GregroxMun> But Thud is interesting looking enough that I think it's worth it for the Saturn system. Mimas or Tethys.
<SigmaSemi> if it's interesting then sure
<SigmaSemi> wait
<SigmaSemi> do all saturn moons have the big Death-Star-like dish?
<GregroxMun> No, just Mimas and Tethys
<SigmaSemi> lol
<GregroxMun> Tethys isn't as deep, so it doesn't look like a death star.
<SigmaSemi> I think I'll go with mimas
<UmbralRaptor> Tethys' superlaser is bigger than all of Mimas. >_>
<GregroxMun> that's the cool part for sure
<SigmaSemi> the superlaser is definitely the coolest part of mimas
<SigmaSemi> :D
<GregroxMun> Mimas' superlaser is in turn bigger than the whole death star (probably by quite a lot if im not mistaken)
<SigmaSemi> !wa mimas diameter
<Qboid> SigmaSemi: Mimas | average diameter: 397.6 km (kilometers)
<SigmaSemi> death star is 140
<SigmaSemi> the crater is 140
<GregroxMun> t measures 139 kilometres
<GregroxMun> wow
<SigmaSemi> yeah 139
<SigmaSemi> !wa Herschel crater diameter
<Qboid> SigmaSemi: Herschel crater (Moon feature) | size: 40 km (kilometers) (diameter)
<GregroxMun> So what structure is the size of the death star's superlaser?
<SigmaSemi> !wa Mimas Herschel crater diameter
<Qboid> SigmaSemi: Mimas | average diameter | Herschel crater (Moon feature) | size: Mimas | 397.6 km (kilometers), Herschel crater | 40 km (kilometers) (diameter)
<SigmaSemi> >_>
<SigmaSemi> mimatean LOL
<GregroxMun> fun fact: Vesta's average diameter is 1.33x Mimas'.
<GregroxMun> Goes to show that icy objects can be in hydrostatic equilibrium at smaller sizes than rocky objects can be.
<SigmaSemi> mimas is one of the smallest object in hydrostatic equilibrium iirc
Thomas|AWAY is now known as Thomas
<GregroxMun> the single smallest
* Thomas stopped reading the backlog...
<Thomas> Soo
<GregroxMun> Vesta is thrice the density.
<SigmaSemi> hi thomas
<Thomas> Rings are a scaled space object, scaled space fades out
<GregroxMun> o/
<Thomas> Would be my guess
<GregroxMun> It also happens from the surface of planets tho
<Thomas> Scaled Space doesnt care
<GregroxMun> Sarnus is visible from Tekto, but its rings aren't once you're below the atmosphere.
<Thomas> It just fades out if you dont need it
<GregroxMun> It's not a fade though
<SigmaSemi> it used to be visible tho
<GregroxMun> imgur is over capacity so I can't share the screenshots
<SigmaSemi> I have old screenshots of rings from inside the atmosphere
<Thomas> I dont know, I changed nothing
<Thomas> Must be Squad
<Thomas> Could be something with the atmosphere shader too
<Thomas> Hmm, actually
<Thomas> Could you try it with scatterer?
<Thomas> I think it kills the atmosphere
<SigmaSemi> I think it is the atmosphere
* Thomas goes back to his corner and cries b/c SigmaSemi contributes more to Kopernicus than he does :P
<GregroxMun> It's almost certainly the atmosphere
<SigmaSemi> because you can see the rings disappear from space
<Thomas> Or: Add rings to the mun and check from the mun surface
<SigmaSemi> if you look at a gas giant where the rings meet the planet
<SigmaSemi> KillAshley: could you link the screenshot from before?
<Thomas> Hmm, yeah
<Thomas> looks like the atmosphere is rendered above the rings
<GregroxMun> (I don't have an after, but you can see the edge of the green follows the ring)
<Thomas> goddammn rendering crap
<Thomas> GregroxMun: Do you know if the halo around the planet in scaled space is back?
<GregroxMun> no?
<GregroxMun> what's that.
<SigmaSemi> Thomas: if only someone had created an issue on github saying EXACTLY THAT
<SigmaSemi> #171
<Qboid> [#171] title: atmosphere renders in front of the rings | Multiple reports from @KillAshley and @GregroxMun... | https://github.com/Kopernicus/Kopernicus/issues/171
<Thomas> Back when I took over Kopernicus, the atmosphere was rendering above the rings
<SigmaSemi> but I think you changed it
<KillAshley> SigmaSemi: which screenshot
<Thomas> causing some free space between planet and ring
<SigmaSemi> KillAshley: the first one
<Thomas> SigmaSemi: I know, but now the atmosphere is rendering above the rings too, but *differently*
<SigmaSemi> the one with the ring ending far from the planet
<SigmaSemi> Thomas: I don't envy you :D
<Thomas> SigmaSemi: And I said that I stopped reading the backlog :P
<SigmaSemi> yeah I was just messing with you
<SigmaSemi> :P
<KillAshley> this one? http://i.imgur.com/j4FfWFh.png
<SigmaSemi> YUP
<SigmaSemi> sorry caps
<Thomas> KillAshley: Yeah, thats what I meant
<SigmaSemi> Thomas: if you fix that, could you also apply my fixes for the clock and the PostSpawnOrbits?
<Thomas> If that exists, the rendering layers are screwed
<SigmaSemi> KillAshley: did you try the clock on NH ?
<KillAshley> no, still trying to get the new shader to work on my ring textures
<KillAshley> one of them doesnt want to work
* Thomas is confused because he made the rendering layer crap dynamic
<SigmaSemi> KillAshley: do you have the example config?

<KillAshley> hmmmm
<Thomas> SigmaSemi: GregroxMun: There is a build on the jenkins. Could you try it with both the new and the old shader and see if the bug still exists?
<GregroxMun> Sure.
<GregroxMun> I need the link to jenkins again
<Thomas> jenkins.tmsp.io, do you still have the account data I sent you a while ago?
<GregroxMun> I don't actually
<Thomas> Did you ever changed your password on it?
<GregroxMun> no
<GregroxMun> I can actually access jenkins.
<Thomas> GregroxMun: Yes, but you cant access the devbuilds of kopernicus :)
<GregroxMun> actually I still can't
<GregroxMun> last build is still 1 mo 24 days ago
<Thomas> You dont see a project named Kopernicus-Dev?
<GregroxMun> no
<GregroxMun> did you not just delete that? :P
<Thomas> No, I can see it
<Thomas> I have an idea
<SigmaSemi> I can see it
<SigmaSemi> gregsux
<Thomas> I just fixed it
<Thomas> GregroxMun: ^
<GregroxMun> ok
<GregroxMun> got it
* Thomas slaps jenkins for doing messing with case sensivity
<Thomas> It wrote GregroxMun in the config
<Thomas> But it treats your username as gregroxmun
<SigmaSemi> thomas, would it be possible for me to get writing acces to one branch of Kopernicus that gets autocompiled by Jenkins?
<Thomas> SigmaSemi: s/that gets autocompiled by Jenkins\?//
<Thomas> Yeah, sure
<Qboid> Thomas thinks SigmaSemi meant to say: thomas, would it be possible for me to get writing acces to one branch of Kopernicus
<SigmaSemi> so I can push fixes from anywhere and have trusted people like KA or GregSux test them from jenkins
<SigmaSemi> thanks
<Thomas> BUT: If you want to add something biggish, please ask
<Thomas> Otherwise I have no problem with you commiting fixes
<SigmaSemi> that's why I asked for a separate branch
<Thomas> I dont want seperated branches anymore :P
<SigmaSemi> ok
<SigmaSemi> as you wish
<Thomas> If you want to test sth. without pusing, just compile it and dropbox the dll
<SigmaSemi> so I will leave the big changes in PR form
<Thomas> Yeah, or make a pr for all changes and just merge them yourself
<SigmaSemi> yes but if I have my VS pc it means that I can test them myself
<SigmaSemi> :D
<SigmaSemi> it was more a remote fix and test kind of situation
<SigmaSemi> :D
<SigmaSemi> like the fix for SoI I pushed earlier
<Thomas> Yeah
<GregroxMun> Does Kopernicus need any changes to be made for localization support in 1.2.9/1.3?
<Thomas> They removed hasTheInName
<GregroxMun> :o
<GregroxMun> Sigma88 ^
<Thomas> So I either need to abstract that or just give access to the new name field
<GregroxMun> SigmaSemi ^
JPLRepo has quit [Quit: So Long and thanks for all the Fish!]
<Thomas> (a cb has two now)
<Thomas> One internal one, and one that is displayed
<GregroxMun> so there's always name and something like cbNameLater
<Thomas> I already thought about dropping cbNameLater in favour of that, but I dont know
<Thomas> cbNameLater is Kopernicus
<GregroxMun> "something like"
<SigmaSemi> WUT
<SigmaSemi> WHYYYY
<SigmaSemi> STUPID SQUA
<SigmaSemi> D
<Thomas> Because of localization
<SigmaSemi> stupid russians
<Thomas> They have the "The" now inside the planetNameWithGender or so
<SigmaSemi> smh
<GregroxMun> I guess that makes sense. Spanish "El Luna" doesn't make sense, you need genders in a lot of languages.
<SigmaSemi> SD, now with localization support: https://pastebin.com/raw/xBHaFMc8
<GregroxMun> lol
<SigmaSemi> LOL
<Thomas> Gave you access to the kopernicus repo
* Thomas shamelessly stole the linux sudo lecture :P
<SigmaSemi> I pledge to serve and protect
<SigmaSemi> except greg
<GregroxMun> lol
<GregroxMun> Thomas: can you put some setting somewhere in Kopernicus that gets rid of ambient lighting in scaledspace?
<SigmaSemi> I need one exception to confirm the rule
<GregroxMun> OK so I removed drag from Tekto so I could land faster. But because of Isp, the LV-909s on my lander didn't have enough thrust to counteract gravity and kaboom went my ship
<GregroxMun> incidentally the rings to appear over the atmosphere now with the New Shader
<GregroxMun> not over actually, alongside.
<GregroxMun> like they're green-tinted
<GregroxMun> But because ambient light from planetary atmospheres shows up in scaledspace, the whole scene looks weird.
<GregroxMun> comparison: http://imgur.com/a/LowAC
<SigmaSemi> Thomas: we were discussing this earlier with greg
<SigmaSemi> is it possible to add science to the rings?
<SigmaSemi> like you added science to the scatters
<Thomas> With a custom science part module, yes
<Thomas> (and a custom science part)
<GregroxMun> I think I'm gonna do some bug and visual fixes to Tekto to make it look and act better.
<GregroxMun> First of all it lags an awful lot and I think I know why.
<SigmaSemi> GregroxMun: how did you turn the lighting off if kopernicus can't do it?
<GregroxMun> I set the ambient light to rgb = 0,0,0 in kittopia
<GregroxMun> You'll note the ground isn't green enough in the image where the scaledspace ambient lighting is gone
<GregroxMun> also Scatterer does this as an option
<SigmaSemi> and you cannot do that with kopernicus?
<Thomas> Hint: You can
<GregroxMun> you can remove ambient light with kopernicus
<GregroxMun> but we need to remove it only in scaledspace and not everywhere
<SigmaSemi> gotcha
<SigmaSemi> that's what I was missing
<GregroxMun> specifically the atmosphere ambient light. For some reason some people like having scaledspace ambient light, which is of course a property of the sun.
<SigmaSemi> so basically you want to avoid that the atmosphere ambient light affects other bodies?
<GregroxMun> yes
<SigmaSemi> that's probably thomas' field
<SigmaSemi> I can take a look at the code if there is something obvious
<SigmaSemi> like kopernicus using one field to trigger both
<SigmaSemi> and I just need to stop the trigger on the scaledspace
<GregroxMun> Again, scatterer does it, so you can probably look at what it does
<SigmaSemi> but I highly doubt it
<SigmaSemi> yes but that's probably a complex change
<GregroxMun> It's one of the optional settings that doesn't appear to be related to the shaders.
<SigmaSemi> I can do that on my fork when I get home
<GregroxMun> but i dont know
<SigmaSemi> what's the name of the setting?
<SigmaSemi> maybe I can see what scatterer does
<GregroxMun> "remove ambient light in scaledspace" I thin
<SigmaSemi> is it an ingame checkbox?
<SigmaSemi> where is the ambientlight of the atmosphere defined?
<SigmaSemi> I can't find it in kopernicus
<SigmaSemi> Thomas: why is it that I can only see the master branch of kopernicus? :S
<Thomas> Because: <Thomas> I dont want seperated branches anymore :P
<Thomas> And because: <Thomas> Hmm, crap
<Thomas> <Thomas> your first pr was to master your second one to development
<Thomas> <Thomas> Gah, I shouldnt use development anyways
<Thomas> -*- Thomas merges stuff and then deletes development
<GregroxMun> Atmosphere/ambientColor = RGBA
<SigmaSemi> lol Thomas
<SigmaSemi> fine
<SigmaSemi> I was semi
<SigmaSemi> :D
<SigmaSemi> GregroxMun: as far as I can tell kopernicus just sets that value for KSP
<SigmaSemi> everything else is done by ksp
<SigmaSemi> I'll take a closer look tonight
<SigmaSemi> I think this is it
<Thomas> That looks like it is outright stole from KSP's code :P
<Thomas> *stolen
<SigmaSemi> then it's not stealing if I do it as well :D

<SigmaAFK> gotta run
<KillAshley> i really need to get PS on this pc. cant get my rings properly set up for the new shader
<GregroxMun> Are they dds or png?
<GregroxMun> Because I can do them for you if they're just png
<KillAshley> dds
<GregroxMun> isn't that a bit unneccesary for just 1 pixel wide textures?
<KillAshley> mine are 4px wide
<GregroxMun> Is there a reason for that?
<KillAshley> cant .dds them at 1px wide >.<
<GregroxMun> oh
<KillAshley> lol
<GregroxMun> But then I suppose if they were .png you would have something paint which can rotate textures anyway
<KillAshley> standard windows image viewer will rotate images
<GregroxMun> It won't save them like that though will it?
<KillAshley> yeah it will
<SigmaAFK> Fun fact
<SigmaAFK> Standard window will rotate the visualization of the image
<SigmaAFK> Not the image itself

<Thomas> KillAshley: Even though I have been obsessed with this for the last weeks https://i.redditmedia.com/z_h8649j4xdCumSk--CBGqEDuvOy3fL9WWQM1TqPj4U.png?w=1024&s=a5ae37d999fd0e3fbb88955bc3be949a
<SigmaTrain> I had to hack w10 just to get the old visualization program
<KillAshley> lol
<SigmaTrain> What's that thomas?
<Thomas> That the ugliest linux ui ever + a crapton of themes
<SigmaTrain> KillAshley: when you get around to test the clock (probably never) could you use the version of kopernicus on jenkins that has the fix for the clock?
<KillAshley> k ill try tomorrow before work hopefully
<KillAshley> these rings annyed me enough to stop for the night
<SigmaTrain> Lol welcome back KA

<GregroxMun> Thomas: I dont know if this happened before, but planets that aren't the planet that has the ring will always render on top of rings
<KillAshley> GregroxMun: si planets that should be behind the rings appear in front?
<GregroxMun> yes
<Thomas> yeah, all planets have the same render queue, and all rings have the same
<Thomas> cannot change that easily
<GregroxMun> didn't think so
<GregroxMun> worth a mention though
<KillAshley> god dammit these rings are driving me nuts
<KillAshley> they appear in the menu screen but not on the map view now
<GregroxMun> wat
<GregroxMun> can I see the config?
<KillAshley> theres nothing wrong wit the cfg, it has to be the file
<KillAshley> but i have no clue
TonyC_alt has joined #Kopernicus
<KillAshley> ok GregroxMun gimme a check and see if theres an issue here
<KillAshley> the rings work on Sonnah from NH so it cant be the file, but they wont appear on the planet
<GregroxMun> unlit = true ?
<GregroxMun> maybe set it to true instead of false
<KillAshley> tried it doesnt make a difference either way
<GregroxMun> Just to be sure, you are using the newest Kopernicus dev version
<KillAshley> nope, latest full release
<GregroxMun> Try with the latest dev version
<GregroxMun> on Jenkins
<GregroxMun> wait a minute wait
<GregroxMun> outer radius < inner radius
<GregroxMun> swap them
<GregroxMun> KillAshley ^
<KillAshley> yeah that was me seeing if swapping them would help....doesnt make a difference either way
<GregroxMun> Hmm.
<GregroxMun> Try applying the same rings to a gas giant.
<GregroxMun> maybe the shader doesn't work for small things for some reason?
<KillAshley> i did and they work, applied them to Sonnah in Nh and they work
<GregroxMun> Try applying them to something that isn't Kerbin but is around the same size?
TonyC_alt has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<KillAshley> same thing

<GregroxMun> If you had a really small red dwarf and orbiting it was a planet with mass between saturn and jupiter, but really low and hot, the planet would be bigger than the star.
<GregroxMun> because it would puff up
<KillAshley> i think i found the issue
<GregroxMun> wat
<KillAshley> might have to poke blackrat
<Sigma88> rack
<Thomas> lol
<KillAshley> as the size of the planet gets smaller the range for the inner/outer radius of the rings goes increasingly smaller, meaning at about kerbin size the rings are limited to a small band causing issues
<Sigma88> wait
<KillAshley> its hard to describe
<Sigma88> can't you just change those?
<Sigma88> the inner/outer radius is a function of the radius of the planet
<Sigma88> resizing a planet will automatically resize the rings
<Sigma88> so if you have a cfg for sonnah it should work for kerbin as well
<Sigma88> no?
<KillAshley> lets just say changing the values causes a few graphical issues...... http://i.imgur.com/bmeWj66.png
<KillAshley> no the inner/outer radius are no longer standardized across planets
<Thomas> Sigma88: inner and outer radius dont care about the planets radius
<KillAshley> as in, tied to the surface
<Sigma88> Thomas: when I rescale a planet with SD I don't touch the rings
<Sigma88> iirc
<Thomas> Ok well, let me reword that
<Thomas> They care about the scale of the scaled space mesh
<Thomas> But they arent limited by the actual radius
<Thomas> you can set them to 0 and have a ring inside of the planet
<KillAshley> i have to set kerbings to a negative to touch the surface in the new shader
<Thomas> Is your texture still 4px on one side?
<KillAshley> yeah
<Thomas> Try to change it to 1px
<KillAshley> if i set the outerradius higher than the innerradius the ring vanishes
<Thomas> sigh
* Thomas searches shader source
<KillAshley> im SO CONFUSED
* KillAshley storms off in a daze
<Sigma88> KillAshley: can I have the texture?
<Thomas> KillAshley: Try to use a 1px texture, this could fix all of your problems
<KillAshley> and theres crazy distortion on the texture file when the planet gets too small
* KillAshley shakes his head

<KillAshley> second image didnt work.....http://i.imgur.com/sDcCz9e.png
<Sigma88> and what's the issue?
<KillAshley> can you not see the difference in the rings? thats the same texture
<Sigma88> oh
<KillAshley> yeah
<KillAshley> same settings
<KillAshley> same texture
<Thomas> I suggest to change the penumbral something value
<KillAshley> well....as close as the settings can get given the body size difference
<Sigma88> KillAshley: can I see the cfgs?
<KillAshley> gimme a sec to tweak the penumbral, see if it changes
<Sigma88> k
<KillAshley> didnt help. cfg here from earlier https://pastebin.com/9U2Ub37p only thing i changed is toying with the inner/outer
<Thomas> Hmm, I have an idea whats going on
<Thomas> So.. The mesh of the shader know about the scale of the planets scaled space mesh
<Thomas> The vertices are scaled accordingly
<Thomas> The shader however, has no idea of it
<Thomas> It just takes the inner and outer values, and calculates with them
<Thomas> In the past Kopernicus did the same, which had the result, that inner / outer were only accurate on planets with a scale of 1
<Thomas> so: jool sized gas planets
<Sigma88> so it's an issue with the new shader?
<Thomas> on the other bodies you had to use astronomically high values to get correct results
<Thomas> Sigma88: I'd think so
<Thomas> Lets see if I can compile this
<Sigma88> k
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: does your skinpack still work?
<Thomas> Hmm, wait, it is actually worse, lol
<Thomas> blackrack multiplies the radius with the scale
<Thomas> he'd need to divide it
<Thomas> And yay, I dont even need to compile the shader \o/

<Sigma88> it's annoying in italian
<Thomas> I think I forced it to be english
<Thomas> ..
<Sigma88> nope
<Thomas> Yeah, for me it is english and I know that jenkins has a german version
<Thomas> on the other hand.. I am using Tor :P
<Sigma88> it's not that bad
<Sigma88> Thomas: would it be difficult to make the shader read the texture's diagonal?
<Thomas> For me: Hell yes
<Sigma88> ok nevermind then
<Thomas> So I am glad that blackrack is working on it :D
<KillAshley> i got an extra security warning on this build lol
<KillAshley> i normally only get 3 warnings when i download off jenkins, this time i got 4
<Thomas> KillAshley: Pff, I have answered more captchas over the weekend than in the last year b/c tor
<Thomas> (and because cloudflare says that every tor IP is junk)
<Thomas> Sigma88: Btw, Jenkins should now display everything in en_US :D
<KillAshley> ll
<KillAshley> *lol
<Sigma88> thanks Thomas
<Sigma88> much better
<KillAshley> Thomas: scales a LOT easier
<KillAshley> im gonna poke blackrack about the distortion

<KillAshley> when did opm give eeloo the chickenpox
<Sigma88> really?
<KillAshley> lol yeah

<GregroxMun> Probably
<GregroxMun> it's just textures and the models for them haven't changed
<GregroxMun> I think you have to get it from Curse though.
<Sigma88> nice
<Sigma88> also, I need help with the names of the kerbals
<GregroxMun> do you mean the non-veteran kerbals?
<Sigma88> I feel like I've already done that in Stellarator

<GregroxMun> Oh ok
<Sigma88> I didn't see the non- before
<Sigma88> :D
<Sigma88> wait what?
<Sigma88> so
<GregroxMun> how can I help
<Sigma88> I was thinking about leaving the first names alone
<GregroxMun> And just changing last names?
<Sigma88> except for some special names I will add in to spice it up
<Sigma88> !wa 0.05^0.5
<Qboid> Sigma88: 0.05^(1/2) = 0.223607…
<Sigma88> ok
<Sigma88> yes
<Sigma88> so basically
<Sigma88> this is my idea
<Sigma88> making a bunch of "boring last names"
<Sigma88> which will be generated by merging 2 bits
<Sigma88> so stuff like
<Sigma88> Jeb+son
<Sigma88> Bill+sen
<Sigma88> Crap+smith
<Sigma88> so I need inspiration about that
<GregroxMun> Here's a bunch of names
<Sigma88> oh nice
<Sigma88> where did you find it?
<GregroxMun> surnames.behindthenames.com
<Sigma88> ah cool
<Sigma88> it doesn't work for me
<GregroxMun> what doesn't
<GregroxMun> behindthename
<Sigma88> nvm
<Sigma88> I needed to add http in front
<Sigma88> how did you get only the most common?
<Sigma88> ah cool
<Sigma88> nice site
<Sigma88> now I need some cool first names and last names
<Sigma88> and when a kerbal has both a cool name and a cool last name he gets the veteran flag
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: why does Bailey have an heart?
<GregroxMun> What?
<Sigma88> line 59
<GregroxMun> Oh, force of habit
<Sigma88> ?
<Sigma88> you have a force of habit to put hearts on names? :D
<GregroxMun> not all names
<Sigma88> :)
<Sigma88> is that the name of a girl you fancy?
<Sigma88> or boy, we don't judge
<Sigma88> throw some cool last names at me :)
<GregroxMun> Zambabber
<Sigma88> cool in a nerdy way
<GregroxMun> A lot of names are fairly common names, even in fiction.
<GregroxMun> Nimoy
<GregroxMun> Shepard
<GregroxMun> Grissom
<GregroxMun> Aldrin
<Sigma88> shepard ?
<GregroxMun> shepherd?
<Sigma88> who is he?
<GregroxMun> lots of things
<GregroxMun> Jesus
<Sigma88> there is one in stargate atlantis
<GregroxMun> Alan Shepherd
<Sigma88> not that famous
<GregroxMun> He was the first american in space!
<Sigma88> ah
<Sigma88> the one who died not long ago?
<Sigma88> I didn't remember his name
<GregroxMun> No shephard died in 1998
<GregroxMun> You're thinking of Gene Cernan.
<GregroxMun> Last man on the Moon, first to pilot the Shuttle
<Sigma88> ah
<Sigma88> and some cool first names
<Sigma88> female names
<GregroxMun> Sally (Ride)
<GregroxMun> Kathryn (Janeway)
<GregroxMun> should have all the Trek captains as cool names
<GregroxMun> both first and last
<Sigma88> Kathryn is too general
<Sigma88> even if I love voy
<Sigma88> for now I have
<GregroxMun> Seven
<GregroxMun> :P
<Sigma88> Pepper, Leia, River, Nyota
<Sigma88> oh wait, the annoying one
<Sigma88> the blonde
<Sigma88> what was she called?
<Sigma88> and Blanna also
<GregroxMun> Bellana
<Sigma88> b'elanna

<GregroxMun> Star Wars, Star Trek, Star Gate.
<GregroxMun> what else
<Sigma88> RedMars
<Sigma88> Space Odissey had no females that I can remember

<GregroxMun> Right right
<Sigma88> 2001 2010 2061 3001
<Sigma88> I'm finding it hard to find interesting female characters ;S
<Sigma88> :S
<GregroxMun> ikr
<GregroxMun> The problem is partially that awesome female characters are, relatively speaking at least, few and far between in popular media.

<GregroxMun> How about companions of Doctor Who?
<Sigma88> River

<GregroxMun> I thought you hadn't watched the new season of Doctor Who?
<Sigma88> even martha for god's sake
<Sigma88> no I'm on par
<Sigma88> last episode was not the best
<GregroxMun> I haven't watched past Smile because I can't find it anywhere.
<GregroxMun> So maybe you're right.
<Sigma88> smile?
<UmbralRaptor> Cibo? Sanakan?
<Sigma88> cibo?
<UmbralRaptor> >_>
<Sigma88> cibo means food
<UmbralRaptor> As name suggestions. Characters from Blame
<GregroxMun> Smile, with the emoji robots that are glitching?
<GregroxMun> that episode
<Sigma88> ah
<Sigma88> that episode was saved by the CGI
<Sigma88> it looked pretty good
<GregroxMun> In my opinion Doctor Who has never been more visually appealing
<Sigma88> yup
<Sigma88> but that's it
<GregroxMun> terrific cinematography and use of colors and angles and oh my god its gorgeous
<GregroxMun> it lost a lot of its tackiness from that.
<GregroxMun> which is nice.
<Sigma88> the story has gone downhill after tennant left
<Sigma88> my favourite newwho is still eccleston
<GregroxMun> My favorite is Capaldi. I haven't seen all of his, but from what I have seen I do like it.
<Sigma88> capaldi has been unlucky
<Sigma88> he could have been the best
<Sigma88> but the episodes are not as good as they were for tennant
<Sigma88> there are some episodes with tennant, like the ones in the ship going to hell
<GregroxMun> I've seen Face the Raven, Heaven Sent, Hell Bent, the christmas special where River doesn't recognize the Doctor, The Pilot, and Smile.
<Sigma88> that's my favourite capaldi episode
<Sigma88> by far
<GregroxMun> and also Flatline a while ago
<Sigma88> the one with the castle
<GregroxMun> And one or two other ones
<GregroxMun> Yes, Heaven Sent I think
<Sigma88> yes
<Sigma88> that's on par with "Are you my mummy" and "Don't blink"
<GregroxMun> It's all Capaldi in that one, so of course he shines in it.
<Sigma88> I don't think matt smith has one of those
<Sigma88> I'm trying to think
<Sigma88> matt smith was really a goober lol
<GregroxMun> My favorite Matt Smith episode was The Day of the Doctor, but that's because there were two other doctors
<GregroxMun> I also liked The Time of the Doctor (I think is the name of his final episode?)
