<GregroxMun> http://i.imgur.com/0kO9X1a.png landed on Alternis Supertylo.
<GregroxMun> EXCEPT:
<GregroxMun> No re-entry heating
<GregroxMun> 2.4 times thicker atmosphere. (1.2 atm)
<GregroxMun> 3/4 gravity.
<GregroxMun> (3.14 gee from 4)
<GregroxMun> Frankly I think the atmospheric heating from re-entry might just be the single most difficult problem.
<GregroxMun> Luckily the scale height of the atmosphere is reduced due to the high gravity, so if you wanted to brute force it by killing all your velocity above the atmosphere and then dealing with the ~1-2 km/s you get when falling from 20km, that's possible.
<GregroxMun> I'm keeping the lower gravity because Tylo was otherwise simply too dense for the scale when it had 4 gees.
<GregroxMun> But I think I'll thin the atmosphere a bit to 0.8 atm.
<GregroxMun> When I release the next version of Alternis, I want to get Scott Manley to try to land on Super Tylo.

<GregroxMun> It would take 11 days for a Kerbal to run from the equator of Kerbin to its poles, assuming perfect constant speed and no detours.

<Thomas> GregroxMun: Sigma88: Seems to work https://i.imgur.com/83JhW07.png
<GregroxMun> It doesn't look right
<Thomas> Because I use the crappy default values
<GregroxMun> Sigma88: have you made any progress on the other biome maps?
<Sigma88> GregroxMun: I told you I don't think I'm going to do other biomes
<GregroxMun> ok
<GregroxMun> I remember now
<Sigma88> took me a while to do kerbin and kittopia made me go crazy
<GregroxMun> I'll do the rest then.
<Sigma88> I'm not excluding it completely
<Sigma88> you do them, and if I happen to see that you still miss some, and I find myself wanting to do some biomes, I'll send them to you ;)
<Sigma88> thomas, cool

<GregroxMun> Sigma88: do you have or know of a plugin that changes the loading screen images? (Outside of SASS)

<Sigma88> Greg GPP has a plugin to change loading screens
<Sigma88> But they don't link to the source as far as I know
<Sigma88> I couldn't find it at least
<Sigma88> Stupid bus more than 25' late
regex has joined #Kopernicus
<Sigma88> Thank god it arrived
<Sigma88> GregroxMun^
<GregroxMun> Greg pings me, I saw it
<Sigma88> Ah ok
* Thomas is going to update the emissive fx feature from Kopernicus Expansion too, that looks fancy :D
<Sigma88> You mean the oceans thing?
<Sigma88> Could you please make it load a different texture for the glow?
<Sigma88> I asked a billion times StupidFace to do that
<Sigma88> He came up with the silliest reasons why he didn't want to do that
<Sigma88> !wpn egg
* Qboid gives egg an osmium metric
<GregroxMun> What kinds of reasons did he give?
<GregroxMun> Having glow maps will be good: biolumiescent oceans, lava seas, apparently active volcanoes, city lights w/o E.V.E., possibly even faking multi-star lighting (?)
<Sigma88> One iirc, was that he was using a high res texture for eve and wanted the alpha map to be usef
<Sigma88> Used
<Sigma88> Eve planet
<regex> Who is "Stipudface"?
<Qboid> regex: Agathorn left a message for you in #RO [08.06.2017 03:19:37]: "New blog post: http://outermarkergames.com/panels-widgets-and-uis-oh-my/"
<GregroxMun> He made Kopernicus Expansions
<Sigma88> Apparently I was remembering wrong :)
<GregroxMun> iirc
<GregroxMun> Well apparently Sigma _thought_ that was true?
<Sigma88> It already can load externat texture
<GregroxMun> Nvm I misunderstood
<Sigma88> I wanted it too load the alpha channel
<Sigma88> And he told me no
<Sigma88> Because he wanted to use a custo texture
<Sigma88> I still think having both options would be the best way
<Sigma88> But I guess now that we have 64bit ram is not an issue anymore
<Sigma88> Regex he was the guy that made kopernicus expansion
<regex> Gotcha
<Sigma88> I'm not totally sure that's the full namr
<Sigma88> Name
<Sigma88> Maybe it was slightly longer or different
<GregroxMun> I remember him being characterised by this IRC's native deities as kind of a jerk?
<Sigma88> I don't think anybody really liked him
<GregroxMun> what was it that was wrong?
<GregroxMun> I don't remember anything in particular
<Sigma88> I didn't really care, the only interaction I had with him was asking something really easy and getting shot down with a crappy reason
<Sigma88> Greg I think it was mostly about the fact that the features were crap and he took kopernicus name without asking if it was ok?
<Sigma88> Some feature were based on cool ideas with shitty implementations

<Sigma88> GregroxMun would red giants require a different color from red dwarfs ?
<Sigma88> Assuming same temperature is used
<GregroxMun> They need totally different math to look good, but the base color should be the same.
<Sigma88> K
<Sigma88> How many coronas do you think we'll need?
<GregroxMun> As a placeholder until I am ready to work on the Giant generator, I guess just use the main sequence star.
<GregroxMun> Coronas:
<GregroxMun> No Corona, Orange-red, yellow-white, white-yellow, blue-white, blue.
<GregroxMun> That's my guess.
<Sigma88> K
<GregroxMun> UmbralRaptor is our resident star expert, right?
<Sigma88> For flares I ended up settling on: brown, red, white, light blue, blue, bright blue
<Sigma88> I may even trim some of the blue ones
<UmbralRaptor> ping
<Sigma88> But they look sufficiently different that I am keeping them for now
<GregroxMun> How do coronas differ between different spectral types IRL?
<UmbralRaptor> Not sure. I think we only have good data on 1 star. >_>;;
<GregroxMun> I was afraid of that.
<UmbralRaptor> Looks like we have some numbers. OBA stars do not have coronae, FGKM do.
<UmbralRaptor> (something about magnetic weirdness from convective outer layers)
<GregroxMun> OK terrific.
<GregroxMun> Is there a good temperature law for extrasolar corona or do they all glow at about the same temperature?
<UmbralRaptor> Not that I'm aware of. Glow is a mix of reflected and emitted light.
<UmbralRaptor> So, somewhat bluer than the star?
<GregroxMun> So we'll have blue-white for FG stars, white for K stars, and yellow for M stars.
<GregroxMun> and they'll all be really dim.
<GregroxMun> much dimmer than stock KSP portrays them.
<Thomas> Sigma88: His name was Mr.HappyFace
<GregroxMun> XD
<GregroxMun> "Stupid Face"
<GregroxMun> oh that's perfect
<Thomas> Sigma88: And some features were based on shitty ideas with shitty implementations and a shitty license
<Thomas> :P
<Thomas> Hmm, ModularNoise seems nice too
<Thomas> And Refractive Atmosphere, even though I have no idea what that does :D
<GregroxMun> what does refractive atmosphere do?
<GregroxMun> oh wait you don't know
<GregroxMun> I mean I guess try it and see what it does.
<Thomas> Btw, I love how HappyFace worked on the ExternalParserTarget Loader for weeks, so he could do KopernicusExpansion, and one of the first comments under his post was "Thomas can you pull this into Kopernicus" xD
<GregroxMun> lol
<GregroxMun> I'd say Alternis is probably a G5V star on account of its color
<GregroxMun> 5660 Kelvin
