<xShadowx>
Agathorn: hate to break it to you but ksp 1.2.9 (prerelease though, 1.3 be near) just out :| heh
<zilti>
xShadowx: I bet it's also gonna break all mods again?
<xShadowx>
havent even looked......just the fact its localization stuff (not everyone is sane enough to speak english) makes it sound scary, who knows could be easy :D
<xShadowx>
i should go poke at that ^.^

rsparkyc: stratochief left a message for you in #RO [20.03.2017 21:36:54]: "have you launched a lot of R-7's? they can be odd ones"
<rsparkyc>
stratochife, no, i haven't launched any R-7's
<rsparkyc>
s/stratochife/stratochief
<Qboid>
rsparkyc meant to say: stratochief, no, i haven't launched any R-7's
<rsparkyc>
i've mainly stuck to the american side
<zilti>
LOL I left to go to sleep when stratochief left that message ^^
<rsparkyc>
haha
<zilti>
My new Rizen rig works now btw. It wasn't the mainboard, it was just RAM that wasn't on the official list
<rsparkyc>
did you know Qboid can run code?
<rsparkyc>
!csharp Math.PI
<Qboid>
3.14159265358979
<zilti>
oh!
<zilti>
Nice
<zilti>
egg: So, the pull request breaks it?
<egg>
zilti: ?
<zilti>
egg: "We have plenty of crashes related to parts exploding in space"
<egg>
well that's not due to any particular pull request
<egg>
just a statement about the general unstability of things at the moment
<zilti>
I see. Well, I'll see today how much of *my* stuff blows up, and I'll send you the bills :P

I have cheapest crappy crucial ram - bought it a year ago when it was cheap
<riocrokite>
fortunately c6h updated qvl and included it in the list so it should be good
<riocrokite>
c6h = asus

riocrokite: The windows hardware manager looks ridiculous - I now have 16 "Ryzen 7" entries in there :P

rsparkyc: good luck throwing R-7 Luna at the Moon, if you choose to take that challenge then :)
<rsparkyc>
thx
<stratochief>
rsparkyc: have you ever used Juno II, or something like Juno II to throw something at the Moon?
<waerloga>
I did an R-7 launch to the moon
<waerloga>
it was fun
<waerloga>
found a spreadsheet that woud make calculating the launch window easier
<stratochief>
you basically lob a an explorer with the 3 stages of solids sub-orbital with the first stage, then fire all the solids and hope the Moon gets in your way. still easier than Luna, since you're firing from Florida
<regex>
waerloga: link please?
<waerloga>
regex: it's been a long time I don't have it handy anymore
<xShadowx>
what average time to LEO do most pople in RO/RSS get?
<waerloga>
from KSC it's mostly moot since you can be in the plane of the moon
<waerloga>
so there's some, but not much, dV savings
<stratochief>
xShadowx: from about 5 minutes with the Titan II, to nearly 15 minutes with the Saturn V
<regex>
depends on TWR
<waerloga>
yeah, most of my stuff was around 7 to 10 minutes
<regex>
^^ for me as well
<waerloga>
my crewed lunar launch took forever but i didn't time it
<stratochief>
well, my times are reported game times. with a saturn v, the game runs at like 50% time for me :P
<waerloga>
yeah and then there's sim-speed slowdowns
<riocrokite>
part count slowing performance stratochief ?
<stratochief>
riocrokite: possibly for that craft, yeah. lots of parts. or lots of TACLS modules throwing spam. dunno.
<riocrokite>
rgr
<stratochief>
what is that alternative 2 man capsule mod again? RO got configs for it not too long ago
<waerloga>
K2 pod iirc
<stratochief>
like a Gemini, but not from FASA or BDB
<stratochief>
waerloga: yeah, that sounds right. thanks.
<waerloga>
yeah, that was very pretty kerbalized version of the gemini
<xShadowx>
Iskierka: ^ 5 minutes :P
<stratochief>
tight dV budget on the Gemini Titan II, requires some more agressive gravity turning than usual. but lowest dV to orbit that I've ever flown, like 9100 m/s or something

Is Test Flight supposed to show a button on the toolbar?
<waerloga>
I wanted to use the main program, but saw it was .exe and didn't look to see about running in windows
<waerloga>
err running in linux
<regex>
It's cool, I'm on Windows right now.
<waerloga>
I was...trying to get back into space engineers :(
<waerloga>
such a promising game
<acc>
also known as bug simulator
<regex>
Haven't played that in a while.
<acc>
saw some youtubers stop playing it recently because it became almost unplayable
<acc>
if you're looking for a nice vauxel-building-in-space-game: avorion
<waerloga>
so before last patch it was....playable...
<waerloga>
kinda sorta
<waerloga>
this patch they went back and broke everything yet again
<acc>
yeah, and the patch made it worse
<waerloga>
which happens very frequently
<waerloga>
you know, I work in software development, I know bugs happen
<xShadowx>
starmade > space engineers
<waerloga>
but really there should be improvement as time goes on
<acc>
yep. that's why lots of people are pissd :D
<zilti>
What. I have missions disappear as soon as I enter the VAB or get to the launchpad. Even when accepted, they just vanish. Afterwards, they're there for selection again...
<waerloga>
the bugs have been the same or gotten worse even while they added features
<waerloga>
xShadowx: I don't know why, but I just can't...build in starmade
<acc>
xShadowx: avorion is like starmade, but in better
<waerloga>
and I hesitated about avorion because it's build system seems similarly...awkward
<waerloga>
I really like how you (in theory) can build stuff in space engineers
<waerloga>
go mine resources, process them, place the block and build it
<acc>
I would say it's something you need to get used to, but then it's quite fine
<xShadowx>
i find SM the easier build mechanic
<waerloga>
that and the resources to me don't make a lot of sense in SM but that's a conceptual issue
<acc>
on the other hand avorion is still a early beta. I think there will be lots of improfements
<waerloga>
and in avorion, from video's I've seen, they seem more like currency than building materials :)
<xShadowx>
so make a mod and rename em
<acc>
waerloga: no, you need them to build blocks
<acc>
you can sell them too, but that's not the main purpose
<regex>
I just randomly checked eBay for Dell Poweredges... Looks like I can get an overblown Minecraft server for $100
<waerloga>
hah
<waerloga>
well overblown
<waerloga>
I got a dell r210 ii for $150
<waerloga>
that'll run (with it's stock memroy) 2 instances of modded minecraft pretty well
<regex>
Our last one was an old 2950 for $200.
<regex>
Ran FTB:IE for like, six people well into the end game
<waerloga>
and I also picked up a tricked out R710 for $300
<regex>
nice
<waerloga>
72GB of ram :)
<regex>
lol
<waerloga>
group of friends run a server
<acc>
moarrr power
<regex>
I'm wondering if my old Core2 system will handle a single FTB:IE server...
<waerloga>
some vps box
<waerloga>
runs 4 to 6 servers of minecraft
<waerloga>
1 vanilla and a handfull of mod packs
<regex>
I just switched from skyblock to expert mode and I have to run the IC2 reactors for a week or two fulltime in order to produce iridium
<regex>
can't just leave my laptop running on the kitchen table
<waerloga>
not advisable no
<waerloga>
I'm not a huge fan of IE expert mode
<acc>
indeed
<waerloga>
which is amusing because I'm currently on-and-off playing Gregtech New Horizions
<regex>
vOv
<waerloga>
but wanted to get back into space building type stuff
<waerloga>
hence my ...frustration with space engineers
<regex>
I'm waiting on RO for that
<waerloga>
I did end up buying avorion
<waerloga>
though I dunno how well I'll get into it...since stuff seems to stop happening when you aren't near it
<waerloga>
like the idea of automated systems that continue running while you run off and do something else
<waerloga>
but yeah, was trying some survival play after building a few ships and klang (SE's version of the kracken) decided to smack the stuffing out of my ships
<waerloga>
so any suggested youtubers for starmade?
<acc>
waerloga: yeah, that kinda sucks. but it will be implemented in future updates
<waerloga>
acc: yup, looks like avorion is off to a good start so I'll probably give it a try in the next day or three (went ahead and bought it)
<acc>
:)
<acc>
I'm sure it will end up as a very nice game

hey guys. So, what's the deal on doubles in configs? Do they still require special handling to load them from configs? Because I noticed that I have some cases in my code where sometimes it seems KSPField works for doubles but other times not.
<blowfish>
have there been issues loading them? I know the GUI code doesn't support doubles very well but I think they can be loaded without any trouble
<rsparkyc>
sarbian had the mechjeb thread locked?
Thomas is now known as Thomas|AWAY
<xShadowx>
i havent had issues loading doubles, but i never used em on UI (was told not supported, didn't tryit)
B787_Work is now known as B787_300
<blowfish>
I think you can display them on the UI, it just doesn't support formatting so you will get all the decimal places or whatever you get with ToString()
<regex>
The MechJeb thread is generally filled with total idiots who can't be bothered to read an OP, no wonder it got locked.
<Sarbian>
said idiots asked for support without mentioning they where running on KSP 1.3-Pre
<Sarbian>
after 2 in a row I got tired
<regex>

<regex>
fugging love the KSP community, don't you?
<waerloga>
s/the KSP/gaming
<waerloga>
fify
<regex>
KSP community is worse because they all think they're smarter than everyone else because they play KSP
<waerloga>
sure, because the game IS rocket science :P
<UmbralRaptor>
Yes, but…
<xShadowx>
considering KSP has allowed the only (as real as can be) landings on mars/moon, im offended by your judgements :P
<waerloga>
heh
<UmbralRaptor>
eg: that silly person we had in #spacex the other day.
<blowfish>
I dunno, stock KSP doesn't really capture the true tyranny of the rocket equation
<xShadowx>
atleast we do better than hollywood did in the 60s >:)
<rsparkyc>
sarbian: fair enough.
<waerloga>
it is amusing to me that at the time it was technologically easier to land on the moon than it was to fake it
<rsparkyc>
lol
<regex>
hehe
<UmbralRaptor>
:D
<waerloga>
easier and cheaper
<xShadowx>
Sarbian: yesterday i spent an hr to help a guy find why his install busted, 1.2.2 with mostly 1.1 mods -.-
