<TheKosmonaut>
How steep of an angle did the Bumper WAC fly at on its way up? Because i have this rocket down ±10 kg of the real thing and I am getting signifficantly better altitude out of it
<TheKosmonaut>
Never mind, I think I figured it out. I need to make a turn starting at like <30 meters and if I want to separate at the same altitude as the real thing did, I need to be angled as if I am going for an orbital launch.
<Oro>
My clouds spontaneously popped into existence after my 5th orbital launch
<Oro>
with no warning or explanation.
<Oro>
So I no longer have to beg you all to help me with RVE :P

<stratochief|vacation>
I may have a chance to try new principa this week, at least in stock. my laptop cannot handle RSS
<stratochief|vacation>
and egg|zzz|egg: syncing your releases with the cycle of the Moon is a neat idea. every time I looked at the Moon this past week I thought of Principia :)
<egg|zzz|egg>
:D
<egg|zzz|egg>
stratochief|vacation: quite a few bugs in Cardano that will be fixed for the next lunation :D
<Sigma88>
wut?
<Sigma88>
you release every full moon?
<stratochief|vacation>
new moon?
<Sigma88>
ah right
<Sigma88>
forgot that egg loves that book
<Sigma88>
:D
<Starwaster>
stratochief! when are you coming back?
<stratochief|vacation>
Starwaster: about a week from now?
<Starwaster>
ok
<Starwaster>
did you see my suggested thermo changes?
<stratochief|vacation>
I am now no longer so rural that I don't have internet, but I am away from my real computers, and still somewhat busy (friend's wedding)
<stratochief|vacation>
Starwaster: I saw at least some things about that, about a week ago. if you give me a link, I will email it to remind future me :)
<Starwaster>
there's really only two changes. base heat conductivity and skin-part conductivity
<Sigma88>
stratochief|vacation: s/new/this book --> new
<Qboid>
Sigma88 thinks stratochief|vacation meant to say: this book --> new moon?
<Sigma88>
:D
<Starwaster>
conductionFactor = 0.0250 and skinInternalConductionFactor = 8.3333
<stratochief|vacation>
Sigma88: lol. New Moon is from. Twilight series? I imagine egg chose that because of... the actual lunar cycle and Moon itself, not a recent 'literary' reference?
<Starwaster>
those are preliminary and may need some adjusting. But basically it brings conductivity down to watts per degree K and makes skin-internal dominate instead of part to part
<egg|zzz|egg>
stratochief|vacation: yeah >_>
<Sigma88>
it was a joke
<egg|zzz|egg>
stratochief|vacation: also, new moon rather than full moon for our releases, that way new moon = new release (also it means that the release coincides with the lunation)
<stratochief|vacation>
Starwaster: which RSS/RO/RP-0 project do we use to patch PhysicsGlobalTweaks already? shouldn't/couldn't that be a PR there that allows others to test it as well, leave feedback?
<egg|zzz|egg>
stratochief|vacation: which means that although we don't do version numbers, you do have the lunation number :D
<Starwaster>
I wanted to keep it small at first
<Starwaster>
though I did post the link in the RF thread
<Starwaster>
but I don't expect any actual feedback there unless I directly recruit someone.
<Starwaster>
hell I even posted it in here several times in the past week but.... *crickets*
<Starwaster>
thermodynamics has become the forgotten bastard child that nobody pays attention to

does anyone have a dl of editor extensions that works with 1.1.3?
<Oro>
I installed from ckan and it doesn't change anything, qq
<stratochief|vacation>
Oro: not that I'm aware of. I'm not sure what editor extensions does, to be honest. or at least I'm not aware of using it until 1.2
<stratochief|vacation>
Starwaster: until they discover it may reduce boiloff, in many circumstances. IMO a Git pull request is the ideal place to present the suggested changes for testing, where it will get non-zero attention and be easiest to merge in if testing goes well

yo <stratochief|vacation> that's an awfully high hsp value for LqdHydrogen. What data source did you reference for that?
<Starwaster>
stratochief|vacation even... not sure where the <> came from
<UmbralRaptor>
Sigma88: it is.
<UmbralRaptor>
Compare w/ Fox being republican, and CNN attempting to be nonpartisan
<Sigma88>
what about cbs?
<Sigma88>
also, I had no idea fox was republican
<Starwaster>
hoooo yah
<UmbralRaptor>
Not sure about CBS.
* UmbralRaptor
doesn't have a TV.
<Oro>
UmbralRaptor: cnn attemptiing to be nonpartisan XD
<Oro>
nice meme
<UmbralRaptor>
NPR is theoretically nonpartisan also, though in practice they skew towards Democrats. (the party, not the base)
<UmbralRaptor>
Brietbart is, uh, let's go with scary?
<stratochief|vacation>
Sigma88: MSNBC is democrat leaning, NBC, CBS, ABC are old school over the air networks, vaguely non-partisan, just generic corporate news
<stratochief|vacation>
Starwaster: no idea what HSP is/stands for
<Starwaster>
specific heat. It currently has a value of 14305 with some comment as to recalculating as to mols.... (it's always been kj/kg)
<stratochief|vacation>
Starwaster: years ago; a galaxy far away, I shared preliminary values for many liquid gasses with NK
<Starwaster>
yeah.... I don't think those values are right :P. the original values that those configs are changing look accurate enough to me
<stratochief|vacation>
50% difference; neither with tracable sourcing. how 'bout dat
<stratochief|vacation>
I blame NK, since I believe I sourced the things I created in a spreadsheet or email or however they got from A to B
<Probus>
Yeah Sigma88. For the most part.
<Probus>
Democrat, along with ABC
<Probus>
I think MSNBC is the worst that leans left.
<zilti>
Apparently, RealHeat makes Deadly Reentry-reentries a whole lot more deadly ^^
<Starwaster>
stratochief|vacation ok
<Starwaster>
zilti does it? I hadn't noticed. To me it's all just a nice suntan on the beach sort of warmth
<Starwaster>
:P
<Starwaster>
so, off topic but... did anyone here play City of Heroes?
<Sigma88>
is that still a thing?
<Sigma88>
I tried it a long time ago
<Sigma88>
thought it was cancelled or something
<zilti>
Starwaster: I tried to land my first probe back on earth. Trajectory reeally flat, after deceleration burn like 6.8km/s at 90km altitude. I got overheating warnings for the heat shield, and after a slight tilt the whole vessel exploded ^^
<zilti>
Impressive. My KSP takes 28 minutes to load.
<Starwaster>
uhm
<Starwaster>
it shouldn't take so long...
<Starwaster>
sigma88 yes it was cancelled like 5-6 years ago?
<Starwaster>
but there's a server emulator that you can log into and you can use it like a 3D chat thing. powers dont work so well. Except travel powers
<Sigma88>
ah thought you asked "does anyone play it" instead of "did anyone" :)
<Starwaster>
there's a few dozen people who still use it and I think now and then they make a stab at trying to get powers working but that's a major server software project
