<stratochief> taniwha: excellent!
<stratochief> acc: sorry, missed you there? what is the BNC?
<taniwha> stratochief: he also PRed it
<stratochief> egg: what do I do to make principia Cardano recognize the stock solar system again?
<taniwha> stratochief: you may find this to be of interest: https://github.com/taniwha/io_object_mu
<taniwha> (assuming you use blender)
<stratochief> taniwha: I do not use blender, no
<Starwaster> blender is the devil's 3d editor
<taniwha> Starwaster: you seen my avatar? }:>
<taniwha> (though it's meant to be a dragon)
<taniwha> and blender is not a 3d editor
<taniwha> it has a 3d editor
<Starwaster> zilti 16,261 exceptions in your log. It's a mess. And it's no one thing either. A lot of plugin dlls not loading. Lots of celestial body errors for a lot of the planets/moons. (as in not valid CelestialBody) and a shit ton of contract configurator errors
<Starwaster> actually those might be the same thing... ContractConfigurator reporting invalid celestial bodies.... I'm kind of groggy right now. Woke up from nap and haven't really awakened yet
<Starwaster> ok I see... because they're stock celestial bodies that there are contracts for.
<Starwaster> lots of CityLights exceptions
<Starwaster> zilti: 33,400 errors logged by an unknown mod. It's generating them itself but not identifying itself in the log: Coroutine couldn't be started because the the game object '(some part name' is inactive
<Starwaster> and 14,009 null ref exceptions thrown by City Lights
Olympic1 has quit [Quit: Bye - Quit]
<Starwaster> those two are being thrown repeatedly and that's probably where your performance drop is coming from. But like I said, there's also a lot of other errors in there from various plugins not even loading at all

<pap1723> What are the engine group controllers used for?
HypergolicSkunk has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<stratochief> Pap1723: useful for throttling some engines (like, 2 outer cores for Delta IV Heavy) but not others. same thing would be useful for creating the Falcon Heavy
<pap1723> Ah, ok, I'm not even close to that far yet! lol

<pap1723> So, if I am having MechJeb control my ascent, if I take over and disengage autopilot, it kills the thrust of my engine, is there a way to change that setting?
<Starwaster> dont think so
<Starwaster> And, you mean, "is there a way to change that behavior" because there is no setting that governs it
<pap1723> Yes, you are correct in your wording, and damn, that is what I expected the answer to be

<Raidernick> hey Starwaster you work on solverenginse right
<Raidernick> engines*
<Starwaster> only occasionally
<Starwaster> why?
<Raidernick> i noticed there's a new release that supposedly addresses the fact that RF is showing asl thrusts instead of vac thrusts for the engine info
<Raidernick> it's not working though
<Raidernick> still shows asl thrust
<Raidernick> Pap1723, any changes you make to fasa parts, you need to pr the source with the fix
<Starwaster> there's an actual release of that?
<Starwaster> not seeing any commits that address the SL thrust issue...
<Qboid> [39f31] title: Initialize therodynamics from vacuum by blowfish | Additions: 21 | Deletions: 0 | https://github.com/KSP-RO/SolverEngines/commit/39f31f334bbd613348ef3385cffd375dcff61cb1
<Raidernick> that is the fix
<taniwha> Raidernick: oh, you want the .blend file too?
<Raidernick> taniwha, it should go into the unity asset folder yeah
<taniwha> didn't use unity at all
<pap1723> Damn, Raidernick where is the original source?
<Raidernick> Starwaster, you can fix the issue in RF by editing: ambientTherm = EngineThermodynamics.StandardConditions(true);
<taniwha> Raidernick: I imported the .mu into blender, edited things, then exported from blender
<Raidernick> but i believe blowfish wanted to make the changes in solverengines instead?
<Raidernick> but it's not working
<Raidernick> taniwha, that's not a good practice
<Raidernick> it can break things
<taniwha> (PartTools does a terrible job with mesh colliders, actually)
<Raidernick> Pap1723, the repo has the entire source dir on it
<taniwha> Raidernick: I know. I wrote the tool :P
<Raidernick> it has the fbz source for all the models
<taniwha> (so I know what to look for)
<Raidernick> fbx*
<Raidernick> taniwha, the mu import or part tools
<taniwha> mu import
<taniwha> (and export)
<Raidernick> i always have issues with it related to animations
<taniwha> and I know how part tools works, because I used it to create the import tool
<taniwha> yes, animations is a problem area
<taniwha> I carefully checked the model for animations before doing anything
<taniwha> (animations and particles)
<Raidernick> also how does the mu importer deal with tags/layers
<taniwha> properly
<taniwha> anyway...
<taniwha> well, actually, maybe excessively
<Raidernick> on a side note i'm not sure why that part needed fixing
<taniwha> but it adds tag and layer to every object in blender
<Raidernick> i fixed it almsot a year ago
<Raidernick> and i sent it to stratochief
<Raidernick> for the release
<Raidernick> i've been using it just fine with no collider issues
<taniwha> it's one he forgot to ask you to fix
<taniwha> (or so he said)
<Raidernick> i did fix it though
<Raidernick> because i use the same part on my juno ii
<taniwha> but the collider in the repo is not convex
<Raidernick> i separated the colliders into 6 parts
<taniwha> or at least in the release zip
<taniwha> the decoupler, not thing with tanks
<taniwha> the thing with tanks did indeed have separated colliders (didn't count)
<Raidernick> are we talking about the small black one
<Raidernick> or the cone shaped white one
<taniwha> the decoupler needed 8 parts
<pap1723> The cone shaped White one
<Starwaster> ok I see. By itself that commit doesn't do anything. Just sets up vacuum thermo condition. Nothing actually references it yet. I'm assuming here that he's got another part to it in RF that he hasn't pushed yet
<pap1723> Actually, it is a circular one with a hole in the middle of it
<Starwaster> I'll poke at him later and see what's up
<taniwha> Raidernick: that one
<Raidernick> Starwaster, thank you
<Raidernick> just been getting questions about why engines are showing incorrect thrusts
<Starwaster> right now I'm trying to fix a long standing MechJeb bug concerning burn times and the AP initiating burns too early
<Raidernick> it's not incorrect, just the wrong one
<Starwaster> right
<taniwha> Raidernick: btw, re import tool and animations, which animations specifically?
<taniwha> (I know it doesn't do material animations yet)
<Raidernick> animations that use a skeleton/bones
<taniwha> ah, yes, those too
<taniwha> I need to poke those a little more
<taniwha> (ie, to figure things out)
<Raidernick> i merged that blend file to the source dir
<taniwha> Raidernick: in the process, I corrected the transform names from *Stg* to *Sgt*
<Raidernick> taniwha, as long as it didn't break things in configs or other parts
<Raidernick> name it w/e you want
<taniwha> I checked the configs
<Raidernick> i didn't test it yet
<taniwha> other parts... MODEL{}?
<Raidernick> yeah
<taniwha> not reffed by anything but its own config

<jclishman> amazing
<Rokker> jclishman: i fucking hate space history
<Rokker> jclishman: there was practically nothing going on for the last week
<Rokker> and then they cram fucking everything into the 23rd
<jclishman> Rokker: and spacex still hasn't launched twice on the same day
<Rokker> jclishman: pshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
<Rokker> jclishman: F R E E W I N D O W S

<Rokker> wat
<Rokker> why?
<jclishman> it's apparently not windows according to my friend at geek squad
<Rokker> you didnt even try it?
<jclishman> its win10, but you can only use their apps
<Rokker> ...
<jclishman> ikr
<Rokker> did you try it or are you listening to your friend at geek squad
<jclishman> he's a smart dude
<Rokker> answer the question
<jclishman> no, i didn't try it
<Rokker> then fuck off
<jclishman> going to pull the product key from my old mobo
<Rokker> jclishman: hes literally the only person in the world saying that afaict
<Rokker> so
<Rokker> i dont know where hes getting it from
<Rokker> but it sounds like bull
<jclishman> years of experience in the industry?
<Rokker> oh please

<Rokker> jclishman: it says the focus is more on windows apps, but not that its the only thing you can use
<Rokker> jclishman: its a pretty strange feature that everyone except your friend seems to have left out
<Rokker> all signs point to your friend being full of it or you completely misunderstood him
<jclishman> hmm
<jclishman> interesting
<Rokker> >geek squad
<jclishman> I'll try pulling the product key first, and if that doesn't work out then I'll give that another look!
<Rokker> jclishman: god dammit
<Rokker> i was trying to use u as a guinea pig
<jclishman> lol
<Rokker> jclishman: ur a shitty guinea pig
<jclishman> u tried
<jclishman> i know
<jclishman> i don't even eat hay
<Rokker> jclishman: you had to update ur bios right?
<jclishman> yep
<Rokker> how hard was it
<jclishman> flashed it with the newest version
<Rokker> cause my friend might need to do that
<jclishman> It was scary, but just follow the instructions to the letter and you'll be fine
<Rokker> and i have no fucking clue how, because i buy shit that works
<jclishman> And for the love of god don't turn it off unless you want a fancy-looking paperwight
<jclishman> *paperweight
<Rokker> jclishman: during the update you mean?
<jclishman> yes, while it's applying the update
<Rokker> jclishman: how the hell do you apply the update
<jclishman> thats what i used
<Rokker> ah
<jclishman> you put it on a USB and boot from it
<jclishman> if you've an MSI board, you can use "M-Flash" to do it right from the BIOS
<Rokker> jclishman: i think it should be updated, but i have no clue.
<jclishman> Rokker: mine was several versions out of date when I got it
<jclishman> so, depends when it was last updated
<Rokker> jclishman: yeah, which sorta depends on the retailer and shit doesnt it
<jclishman> yep
<Rokker> and if they upgrade their shit before selling it, or whatevs
<Rokker> i think it was new egg
<Rokker> so hopefully

<blowfish> hey Starwaster, is RF currently in an unreleasable state without the changes you wanted to make? It seems that reports of decoupling/temperature issues are still coming in, as are ASL/vacuum thrust issues. Even if it's only a few days apart I wouldn't mind releasing twice.
<taniwha> hmm, have I pushed my mft fixes?
<taniwha> ah, one but not the other
<taniwha> pushed
<Starwaster> the current code base has analytical enabled but it's got way too much heat in analytic
<blowfish> Starwaster: would you consider the current state unreleaseable? I could also make a branch without those changes and release that
