finding reference photos for launch pads is suprsiungly difficult...they all are angles pointing up to show the rocket, so you can't see the greound details

Agathorn: google maps?;3
<xShadowx>
aside from sat view, also would have photos for nearby
<Agathorn>
yeah already been there
<Agathorn>
the 3d view is nice, but the photogrammetry they use have issues, most of all the pad is solid and missing the flame trench
<KevinStarwaster>
You know, right around the time that I am ready to start playing again, 1.2.9 will be out :(
<rsparkyc>
you won't want it
<xShadowx>
dont worry RO is only 1.2.2 ;p

Is there a way that I can download the most current RO off the Github that includes the 10 Pull Requests that are still open?
<NathanKell>
yes, but it will take some command line work
<NathanKell>
you'll need to pull, then create a new branch, then pull from each of their *.git repos
<NathanKell>
(and fix any merge conflicts)
<KevinStarwaster>
lamont, I thought 696 was the last one that ullaging worked in but even that one was giving me trouble and I had to fall back to 694. just thought you should know

ooooh git command line... scary

hmm using 3.9gb of vram and I have more terrain textures to put in place. That's not good. Runs fine for me but potatoes will choke on it :(
<Pap>
Are you working in Unity or Unreal or something else?
<Agathorn>
Unity
<Agathorn>
I work with Unreal at work so decided to use Unity for my personal work so as to not burn out as easy
<Agathorn>
plus I prefer c# to c++ :)
<Pap>
That makes sense
<Pap>
I start my C++ class in 20 days
<Agathorn>
for some reason the later versions of unity take forever to start up now and I don't know why
<Agathorn>
start the editor up I mean
<Agathorn>
never used to be this slow :(
<Agathorn>
think it might be the new progressive lightmapper - which would be ironic since the whole point of such a thing is speed of preview

trying to use satelite images as low res terrain maps, but the color changes based on satelite resolution so the lower res ones don't blend well with the higher res ones :(
<xShadowx>
maybe look for a usgs map?
<Agathorn>
i think that is where these come from

Start planning for your Apollo or Soyuz missions?
<acc>
yep. soyuz is ready to launch. already did some simulations
<acc>
apollo needs a new LV
<acc>
I'll do first docking with the soyuz and use the apollo for moon stuff
<acc>
but will be a while until I unlock everything needed for the LEM
<acc>
want to do uncrewed landing first anyways
<Pap>
Awesome
<acc>
and what will be your next things to do?
<rsparkyc>
is NathanKell still who maintains RealFuels?

I'm changing the fuel mixture on a part on the fly, and i'm trying to figure out the best way to notify the fuel tanks that the propellent requirements have changed
<rsparkyc>
the "autofill with right fuel" works when i disconnect and reconnect the part
<rsparkyc>
surely there's some event I could raise
<Agathorn>
taniwha: it won't be perfect for sure, but the textures I need to do it to are lower lod ones that are farther away so might be fine. Won't know until I try it :)
<taniwha>
too true
<taniwha>
I was worried that the part I'm working on would be too cramped for 6 kerbals
<Pap>
That is awesome, do you know someone there (or do you work there)?
<Rokker>
Pap: restoration tour
<acc>
he's secretly living between the walls :3

Thomas Edwin Utz of Cocoa Beach, Florida died Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Cape Canaveral Hospital. He was bom on October 1 1 , 1 963 in Louisiana. He graduated from Decatur High School in Federal Way, Washington in 1981 and Montana State University in 1987. He has been employed by the Boeing Company at Cape Canaveral as a Mechanical Engineer
<Rokker>
rsparkyc: so ur getting closer
<rsparkyc>
so i'm guessing whatever it is, it's Boeing
<Rokker>
rsparkyc: I mean the name is right on the in memory of
<xShadowx>
it sucks when your tax $ pay for nice toys and you arent allowed to take the toy home :(
<Rokker>
xShadowx: even worse when your tac money pays for toys that you have to pay money to see
<Rokker>
like cape canaveral
<xShadowx>
Rokker: what about the toys your tax $ pay for that you ARENT allowed to see? wonder how many people want into area-51 lol
<UmbralRaptor>
Also most science papers that are behind paywalls.
<xShadowx>
then you have all the 'government funded ontractors' that it isnt even illegal to see the toys your tax $ pay for, aside from the 'no tresspassing on privately owned properly' bs

imagine how horrible that cabin would be? full of moon dust?
<CobaltWolf>
nowhere to remove the bulky surface eva suits?
<gazpachian>
Well, astronautix says it's unpressurized, so you couldn't even remove them.
<CobaltWolf>
the langley lander, yeah
<CobaltWolf>
but I'm just thinking, be is DA or with the baby lander, either way you wind up back in a Gemini haha
<gazpachian>
also, "oops, dropped my moon rocks on ascent" issues.
<CobaltWolf>
imagine tripping over the lander and smashing it haha
<CobaltWolf>
it's such a goofy idea
<CobaltWolf>
of course I need it to go in Kerbal
<gazpachian>
obviously.
<CobaltWolf>
the geometry of the windows is actually the same as the Mk1 lander can in stock, just upside down. I used that as a starting point. the pod is maybe 2/3 the size of the Mk1 lander can. It's pretty much the smallest you can go and still fit a kerbal
<CobaltWolf>
that took too long to find but I'm bored
<Agathorn>
I like the simplicity of gemini direct..I often use it in my BARIS/BASPM playthroughs because it gets me to the Moon quicker, more efficiently using existing hardware
<Agathorn>
though it is more complex thus moe chances for things to go sideways

Agathorn, so I read today in a reddit thread that Jon Schaefer, one of the creators of Civilization and Rise of Nations had started at Paradox

Agathorn, were you talking about an IRC client that you use earlier in the week?
<Pap>
Also, Airport CEO looks really neat
<Agathorn>
yeah Quassel
<Agathorn>
it uses a server and client so the server part stays connected to IRC 24/7 for logging and what not and you just use the client to connect yourself to the server when you want
<Agathorn>
it also has great logging and highlighting
<Agathorn>
bit of a curve getting it setup and learning to use it but once you do it is awesome
